Can someone explain what the usual procedure is if you have a fail to fire during a stage. I’m assuming you still should safely point the gun down range for 60secs. Does that just eat into your stage time and you’re SOL or can you pause/restart the stage? Obviously just ejecting the cartridge right away and continuing on likely isn’t a safe call.

^^^What these guys said^^^

Unless we are shooting the same match, in which case I strongly encourage you to hold the gun pointed downrange for 60 seconds, then do your clearance drill before resuming the course of fire...I'll take every advantage I can...

I've Never had a round go off beside me after a tap/rack, and I shoot much much more than the average.
In a match, without hesitation, tap, rack and move on.
I never have used bargin primers to save 5$. Detonation is imperative.

I would say recock the bolt and fire again. If that also fails to fire eject the round and carry on. If it hasn’t gone off by that point it’s probably not going to.

My 2 cents though. Check what you local range/club/leagues policy is.

I used to be uncomfortable with this. Nearly all instances turned out to be a failure to feed. Now I take the risk. If it is a pistol don’t cover the ejection port with your hand.
