:confused: I thought it was about equal to the .280 Remington and about 200 fps behind the 7mm Rem mag
 
I just measured a 7WSM case against a 7mm RM case. Both cases held EXACTLY 81.7 grains of H4350 up to the neck. The 7WSM is every bit the equal of the rem mag
 
Here's some failures......223 WSSM, .243WSSM, 7mmSTE, 7mmSTW, 338 Fed.,8mm Rem Mag., .338/06, 358 ST Alaskan, etc.
 
350 rem mag is dying. to bad 7mm wsm is pretty well dead if i was going to buy a short mag that would be the one. 405 win, 222 is kinda dead, 221 fireball, 218 bee, and you don't hear of 16 ga. shotgun anymore. somebody should the same thing with 246 wm as Remington did with 350 rem

Only 3 of those are within the 10 year limit, and all are still currently chambered and factory loaded. Several were never actually factory chambered to begin with.

7mmwsm I'll give ya. Everything else you mention is many decades old and beyond the 10 year limitation. 222 and 221 are still commercially chambered and factory loaded

How could you call the .338 federal a failure? It is only begining to catch on, and it just came out last year. I think it has potential. And no, i don't think anyone is chambering the .264 Winchester. I think your thinking the 6.5 Rem Mag.
 
I think that the .338 Federal might just catch on, especially if Browning chambers a BLR for it, better yet, Savage re-introduces the 99 in this chambering....sweet.
 
The 338 Fed will never be a contender.

Im sure 375 Ruger wont last but I will have one and gather my brass while it is here.

The 284Win is one of my favorites,but is no 7mm Mag.
 
1997 - enter the 260 Remington. Ruger, Browning, Savage, Remington all chamber rifles. Federal & remington load ammo. It fails to catch the interest of buyers as the 7-08 catches on after 15 years of moderate success.

since, 450 marlin has dwindled in the renewed interest of the 45/70. 223 WSSM isnt overly popular due to only one Manufacturer (browning) making rifles and only one ammo maker (W-W). 243 WSSm & 25wssm suffer similar stories. 6.8 SPC is too specialized, especially considering the restricted fireamrs it is chambered to, to be considered a useful cartridge in Canada. 7mm WSM dwindles due to cartridge design problems and is in the shadow of its WSM cousins. SAUM came out too late and with only Rem & Ruger chambering it, Savage stopped, its going to fade. Excellent cartridge design, Ive owned both, but poor marketing and bad timing. 338 federal doesnt look to be a popular one due to low velocity and limited rifle makers. Resurgance by Remington in the 6.5mm Rem Mag & 350 rem mag make you wonder - Why bother? 376 Steyr is similar to 338 federal - good idea but where are the rifles?
 
Is there a cartridge in the last ten years that was an absolute failure? As in introduced with great fanfare then, off the market today, no new guns available in the chambering and no ammunition or brass currently produced?

I agree there are many dying on the vine but I can't think of one that has dropped off entirely.
 
does anybody make a gun in 300 savage
did anybody mention 307win, 356win, 22 hi power, 325wsm, .357 maximum, 32 win spec, 25-35wcf, 30-03(yeah i know it's over 100 years old), and 222 mag
