Fails to Load

I have a S&W 422 pistol that Fails to load 20% of the time. No FTE or stovepipe issues. Gun clean as can be. Just a little tug on the slide will slap the next round into battery. This gun is very well used. Methinks perhaps a new spring on the slide? Anyone had this problem?:wave:
 
Since you say that a little tug on the slide does the trick, I assume that the slide is sticking in the open position with an empty chamber.

If I am correct then to me that indicates to me that the slide is not going all the way back after firing. Are you using low velocity rounds ?? If so try hi velocity. Or perhaps the slide needs some lube.
Can you also try a different mag in case that is causing the slide to stick ?
 
...I'm using Winchester Super X High Velocity 36 grain HP. Yes...The slide locks open with next round still sitting in the mag. Different mags/loads make no difference. I keep looking at the long spring on the slide as the culprit. But I dunno.
