Hi Nutz ! ...looking for a little info .

Do any of you have any load data for 180 gr / 30 cal Winchester FailSafe bullets ?? I just picked up a couple of old stock boxes of them from a local shop. I think I read somewhere that they're similar to the E-Tip because of their length and weight for that length.
I'm interested in ..either printed manufacturers data or some personal data and results.

Thankx in advance.................Kevin

The Nosler Manual I have lists their .30 cal 180 gr. load data in with all of their other .30 cal 180 gr. data.
In 30-06 for example, the loads for the 180 gr. Failsafe are the same as for the 180 Ballistic Tip, 180 Partition
Protected Point, 180 Ballistic Silvertip, 180 Partition Gold, 180 Partition Gold Moly-Free and 180 Partition
Spitzer. There is a Warning Note below the data, however, to begin with starting loads ( and work up carefully, ed. )
when using Partition Gold & Fail Safe products, due to internal construction differences !

Why would data be any different than any other 180 gr bullet.

Start at the START load and work up. Fiddle with OAL to clear mag and rifling.

Hi Ganderite..I don't have any data for the failsafes at all, that's why I'm askin. Noslers # 3- # 6 doesn't list it, nor does Hornady, Lyman...I couldn't find anything on Winchesters load data site either.

those Failsafes are lighter than other 180 gr lead bullets so to acheive the weight, they're OAL is made longer.......longer bullet...longer rifling contact....more pressure.
They've recomended velocities are not to exceed 2700 fps. Easy to do with the 06 or 08...but I was thinking about my 300 WSM

What Nosler Manual do you have beretta boy

I was just digging around Noslers site....somethings changed over the last year...they now have an unlimited maximum velocity rating for the E-Tip !!

Thankx Blackwater...here's the blurb from that page...

WARNING: FailSafe® bullets are longer than many other bullets of the same weight. To avoid excessive pressure,
DO NOT load Fail Safe and Partition Gold® bullets to the same powder charge recommended for other bullets of the same
weight. Handload only in strict compliance with load data for Winchester Fail Safe and Partition Gold® bullets. Incorrect
use of these components or incorrectly handloaded ammunition can cause serious injury or damage. Wear eye protection
when handloading.
