FAIR ISIDE Prestige

Why & whom??

Because the main importer of FAIR, is not known for stellar customer service. You pay your money to order a gun, and you might end up with something other than what you paid for. I speak from actual experience in dealing with Bilozir. I would never deal with him again, and I would never recommend his business to anyone else.

I own a 20ga iside prestige and love it. They are built on a round action which cuts down on weight and they balance just in front of the hinge. When I first got mine after opening the package I thought they sent me a 28ga by mistake, but after checking the barrel stamp it was a 20ga, the round action coupled with the light weight made the gun feel smaller then what a regular non round acton 20ga would feel like. Gun handles lighting fast and is easy to carry with good balance and a smooth swing. They usually come with nicely grained walnut stocks. The ejectors work well, single select trigger works crisp. The wooden but plate ads a nice classic look to the gun. The only thing I don't like is the laser engraving, it looks kinda cheap but I guess i'm being a little picky about it. Over all I am pleased with the gun.

FAIR makes a decent firearm, but it would have to be something truly special for me to ever consider dealing with their Canadian importer again.

It is a great looking gun and I was interested in the 20 gauge. I don't think I have ever come across a used one for sale. I doubt there have been many sold in Canada.

Friend of mine has two -- a 28 and a 20 ----- loves them. Sadly, they don't fit me.
BTW, I've never bought a gun from the importer but have done lots of shotgun reloading stuff and experienced great service.
Luck!

I wasn't impressed with the one I handled last year. It wasn't engraved at all, plain jane white receiver, single trigger, with chokes. It just seemed like it was overpriced @ 2800. I saw an Iside sideplated boxlock SXS this year, the engraving ran off the top of the plates, like it was an over sized pattern, but had the border in the right place on the bottom, It had a set of 20ga barrels with it, the rifle barrels were on it, 30R. It was very light, I own a 30r in a Krieghoff, the Iside is too light. The front sight seemed hokey also, a truglo on a 30deg angle. @7500 it was a reasonable price for what it was supposed to represent, it was just that it was poorly executed, and apparently regulated with lasers, which is ok on a shotgun.
I'm thinking in that price area, for what is available , there may be better choices for the money. Franchi released one last year, Fabarm has one available (on the Italian website, TSE brought in 12ga, good guns), probably have to order either of those and wait for them. Fausti DEA looks to be a nice gun, Irunguns has those. Other possibility is the Turkish Webley, starting to see some reports on those, but, they are twice the money of a CZ, Epps has some. Sabatti has some around. There are some not bad deals in the US still, some people are cutting inventory and fire saling SXS's.
