One of the guys at my club asked me to cast a couple hundred 405gr bullets for him and has offered to pay for them. I have no idea what to charge since I normally give them away to the guys that want to try cast in other cals. This fella wants quite a few, what is a fair price to charge considering I am using my lead (WW ingots), mold, and electric melter to make the projectiles which will be alox lubed and sized.

While I'm asking, same question for 124gr 9mm and 168gr .38/.357, prices per 100 lubed, sized ready to load and shoot please

Thanks

Check out the prices at someplace like the Bullet Barn and use that as some sort of baseline.
Their .45-70's are available pre-lubed, in varying weights as well as with gaschecks, and they're hard as hell.

If the fellow is a friend, charge him for the cost of replacement components and get him to help you do it. Then of course a decent bottle of whatever turns your crank for later.

If he's just someone that doesn't want to be bothered and you hardly know him, figure out what the retailers charge and knock off a few bucks. In a case like this, he owes you something for your time, which is valuable as well.

Lots of cheap bastards out there that will gladly let you burn up most of an afternoon without compensation and walk away, without a trace of remorse.

I agree with bearhunter's post. I will never sell cast bullets, but I do on occassion make some up for a friend for free, usually in return for something he might have done for me, or simply as a friendly gesture. I've offered stuff for free on CGN, and the bugger refused to pay for shipping!

I simply can't compete with the efficiency of commercial organizations, and refuse to work for $0.050/hr only to have some buyer complain about: speed of delivery; shipping prices; quality of the bullets; type of lube; colour of the lube; <insert many more complaints here>; etc.
