A buddy of mine has a rifle he wants to sell me, its a STV40 in 7.62x54r that has been arsenal refinished. It is in wonderful shaped and has never been fired since it was refinished. He is asking $500. The second gun is a swedish Carl Gustaf CG 63 target rifle in 6.5x55mm in good condition, he is asking $750.00. Are these market and fair prices for each firearm? Also does anyone know ware I can get a mossin negant (arsenal refinished) and what they cost in canada.

P&S Militaria sells arsenal refinished SVT's for $450 + Shipping, and they look to be in pretty great shape. Also, P&S has a buttload of mosins to check out.

The CG63 is an older target rifle, should shoot pretty well, assuming the bore isn't used up. Its caliber really limits its use for competition in Canada, so it would be primarily a recreational shooter. Personally I would consider the price a bit steep, because the rifle is obsolescent and not particularly competitive.
SVT price sounds about right. Have a look at the bore.

Gotta agree with tiriaq, the 6.5x55 CG target rifle is out of its element. Thirty years ago a standard CG in 7.62mm was a competitive rifle, but not for long. The magazine opening and long action don't necessarily help any chambering advantages. In 6.5, it is even less desirable. Even the Scandinavians have sold them off, for ISU style bolt actions with boxy stocks. SARCO in the States had hundreds of them for a while.

I picked up a near mint CG63 in 7.62 Nato from a fellow on the board here last year for $400. I would think anywhere from $400-500 would be a fair price, maybe more for the right buyer.

- The CG63 in 6.5 mm is a historical or collector's piece and not really a Target rifle anymore.

- The CG63 in 7.62 was never a military issue rifle, but made for commercial sales.
