Shut up you troll!

you need a silencer for your big trap. Leave the guy alone. He asked a question. not for you to start ripping into him. Internet hero or not I hate it when people like you insult people on here for them having a question that does not meet your high standards. Jeez

I too would like suppressors to be legal, I have written to MP James MOORE about it.

Back to the OP, another option, which im going to explore, is a custom bloop tube. The bloop tube is more for bolt action target guns but seeing how my AR10 was designed for a supressor I figure the weight might work the same to stabilize the harmonics and it will direct the noise down range. The tube looks like a supressor but with an open end.

Calling a fake can dumb/stupid/lame is a bit counter productive.

At the end of the day it's your AR so do what makes you happy.

saders given that you fab'd that suppressor yourself I'd advise you take that picture down. It's one thing to have a fake can that's made it through CBSA it's another to have one you've made yourself. Treading on real shaky ground and only inviting unwanted attention from the RCMP.

I'm sorry but don't scare the guy, ok?

Look he said it was made out of bar stock, which likely means a hole bored down the center and a big weight on the end of the barrel. It would be more accurate to call it a bore extension. After a quick demonstration and inspection it would not be hard to realize it is a fake and be told to carry on.

Thank you. I can't post links from my phone.

This paper contains every argument and factual reason to legalize sound suppressors I could think of as well as rebuttals for the typical anti arguments. Feel free to distribute as you see fit.

With respect to the idea of using airsoft cans. This is not a good idea. First, most airsoft cans use a M14 thread which is not compatible with the standard 1/2x28 thread on most black rifles.

Second, airsoft cans are not fake fans. They are real and will work well enough on a real gun to get you a prohibited device charge. The way our law is written allows just about anything to be classed as a silencer.

The law is so loose in our country that a fake can could be considered a prohibited device. Hell the Noveske would be considered KX3 a suppressor given that based on standardized testing methods of suppressors it is likely the break would direct the sound differently and thus prove lower decibel readings... prohibited device. Just trying to save people a world full of butt hurt.

I didn't insult him, simply suggested that blasting away with a fake suppressor is for tools like fist pumping is for Jersey Shore douchebags.

Tom, if you have an issue with something PM him. THis thread is for what I asked in the Original Post. Thanks

About a year or so ago some AAC Fake Suppressors made it through CBSA after being held onto for 6+ months. They sold for a pretty penny but you can always put a WTB ad up in the EE.

Suputin is the resident expert on Suppressors and has a vast wealth of knowledge on the topic. If you don't want to listen to me, he's the guy you need to be paying attention to.

I DID insult him, BY SUGGESTING that blasting away with a fake suppressor is for tools like fist pumping is for Jersey Shore douchebags.

I get off on being excessively rude to strangers on the internet to get my point across. I could be polite and level headed but I choose not too because it's more fun to be a jerk.

It is a shame really because I may have valid points but I irritate readers so much that nobody wants to listen to what I have to say
.

Fixed if for ya Tom. Cheers.

Damn fine article.

And regardless of my comment above, thank-you Tom_Swift for posting that here. I find that helpful for what it is worth.

barrel shrouds

Quite a few of us JR carbine owners put barrel shrouds on, to balance out the look of the barrel.
My kriss came that way.
I am not sure if the shroud improved the look of my JR , but it did not make it look any worse.
There is a thread some where on here complete with photo the OP may want to check out.

No matter how "cool" a fake can may look on the OP's gun it will only make him look like that much more of a TOOL.

insult.

No-one is having a go at you for the fact you disagree with fake silencers. But the lame way your going about making your point is rude and childish. Jersey shore fist pumpers...........WTF

I forgot Jersey shore fist pumpers go out with there rifles and pimp them out with fake diamonds, beer bottle openers, a coating of fake tan (coyote), put a shot glass on the foresight and some speakers for the hell of it.

do you have rifles? have you ever modified them? if so, you fall into the category of the Jersey shore tribe. You want either a better looking rifle or a better shooting one. Our OP here has obviously wanted the better looking. You dont agree. Thats very fair and i respect that, but state that fact in a manner that doesnt make you sound like a bit of a jerk.

all the best.

That looks awesome RedEye! Unfortunately I have a 10.5 barrel, so not much room for a shroud to go back, if any. May I ask what sight you found those at? Many thanks,

Seriously, what does CBSA know about silencers? That bunch is the last place I'd go looking for factual information.

I don't see any reason not to make your own fake can as long as you use your head about it and make sure there is no way it can trap gas. Either something that doesn't extend past the muzzle or something solid with a straight through, slightly larger than bore sized passage. An empty can with a front cap would def act as a sound suppressor.

FWIW I saw a fake AAC can for sale at TSE recently.
