Fake EOTECH Exps3 on the EE

Not too long ago, someone was selling fake "unbranded" Raptor charging handles which were probably for airsofts as real firearm parts. I reported it. Ad went down and then a few weeks later, popped up again at a slightly cheaper price. FFS, don't people have any frack'n scruples?
 
If it was someone without a trading rating like his I would think something was up, but in this case I think it was just not knowing what he was selling as legit. Things were corrected and all is good now thanks to the OP.

Those are pretty common and lots of people seem happy with them. I could see it being a problem if it was advertised as a real Raptor but if it clearly said unbranded "Raptor style" I don't see how that would be wrong. In the US a company named Gray Badger sells them and they aren't marketed as airsoft at all.

I received a PM from him an hour ago saying he was informed it was a fake, pulling the ad, and he apologized for the post. I just wanted to add that your posts appears to be written in a state of panic. You posted that he's not a new member, has a very high trader rating, and still make the jump that he is deliberately trying to mislead people and run a scam. Any sane person would read all of that and then likely come to the conclusion that's its almost certainly an honest mistake, give the guy the benefit of the doubt and show some patience in allowing them to fix their error.

Put down the pitchfork and take a deep breath.

And this was my thinking completely from the start, but I do think it was good that it was mentioned for those that may not have known what to look for.

Haha. Well regardless of how my post sounded its very possible that a member here (high trader rating or not) could sell a fake as the real deal. I just wanted to bring attention to the matter ASAP so the buyer would see this post and be notified that he bought a fake.

In the end the seller made good and did the right thing.
 
I almost bought that Eotech yesterday as I saw the ad and noted the low price and his trader rating .If it wasn't so close to Christmas I would have sent the money.

Its good that he is doing the right thing, mistakes can happen. I have no problem with replica items being sold as long as it is clear that it is represented and priced as such.

Coming from a guy who has 50+ Airsoft guns I would recommend keeping airsoft with airsoft and getting real parts for real guns.
However the “Raptor Style” charging handles you speak of are in fact made by TrueNorthArms as their Buterfly Ambi charging handles. There is no confusion on where the design came from. My brother bought one for a build and has had no issues with it. I much prefer the “brand name” parts all though my wife does not :)

Just want to point out that there are alternatives to the pricey brands that offer affordable options to shooters. It does not mean they are airsoft parts. Is the quality the same? No! As I have compared them (wings are thinner/no spiral roll pin). Do they work ok for half the price? Yes!

The ad on the EE for the ones I was referring to was way back, shortly after when the Raptor CHs came into Canada. One CGNer who bought it had contacted me asking if I had issues with my Raptor 'cause his "unbranded" one was problematic. He sent me the EE ad for the knockoffs. That's when I reported the ad to the mods.
