Im looking at putting a fake can on the end of my AR and looking for the best option. if seen a number that screw on where the flash hider usually goes, but was looking for something quicker.

I came across this

has anyone dealt with this before and would it work on a real m4?

Not sure, why you would want to add extra weight to the front end for little gain except for LCF, but the mfiap ones seem pretty decent. spikes tactical also makes one which can be had....

There was a cgn guy who had an mfiap one on his HK.

The fake can is best on spindly 16" bbl's this was a spare that I picked up on the EE
Im saving this one for the day I need to cover up a Tavor bbl or other for aesthetics only... They offer various mounting options. Its very well made.

This really needs a "barrel shroud" I t hink the fake can will do the trick...

Aside from that they are rather Ghey. But they keep non restricted bbl length and dont look as useless... 10 round mags back to back helps ;)

Even if it fit, it is built for airsoft and will almost certainly come apart on the first shot, with pieces of whatever it's made of flying around at speed.

As others mentioned, the MFI fakes look good and work fine.

thats for airsoft, its inside is made of foam and would probably burn out, I highly doubt it would work in centerfire or rimfire since the purpose of sound dampner is to reduce the noise resulted from the sonic boom.
Also FYI the metal isn't that strong for explosive.

No, a suppressor's purpose is to reduce the noise from the expanding gasses, just like a muffler.

You can never reduce the noise of a sonic boom. That's why true suppressed firearms will use sub-sonic ammunition.

I did see an Gemtech made fake can at a gunshop in Seattle.. similar to this one but sold as an bbl extention for OAL reason in WA state. very cool except I couldnt justify the 100USD at the time...

The barrel shroud serves a purpose. Keeping the spindly bbl from looking as lame as it is....
