Wow -- counterfeit crap really boils my blood, even more so when the seller and buyer are both aware of it. In my quest to locate a good used Eotech I have come across some so close in appearance you would have to have an authentic one beside it to see the difference. The same goes for Aimpoint. Its getting to the point where you either buy from an authorized dealer or a seller with receipt from an authorized dealer.

If you look at this stuff enough you can spot them right away,, or could,.... but recently they are getting pretty close even for a knowledgeable eye.

Simple. PRICE...

If someone trying to sell something for 200 and its worth 500$ sometimes should say FAKE.

If the price is too good to be true, it usually is.
If you go on EOtech's website, it will give you clues as to determine the authenticity
of their devices.
They also have NO models where the dot and ring appear in green.

Hope hope you didn't get ripped!

Thanks for the great link Rob!

Yeah I had a few people try and pawn off fakes as real deal. One was a blue lens Leupold with a white offset sticker. Which made it harder for me to sell my real deal Leupold because his was less then mine.

Aimpoints, T25 Micro, ACOG, you can notice. Esp if you pop off the adjustment covers.

Yeah, I bought a fake aim point once, I wanted a cheap red dot for a .22, won't make that mistake again. The only visible difference between the fake beside a real one was the inside of the turret cap had a "M" on it. And of course the quality and lens coatings.

Otherwise it was perfect down to a micrometer measurement.

I Also got a fake EOtech from a guy on here, Obvious fake, I gave it to a paintball friend of mine.

I recommend buy real if you depend on it, or want to, or can afford it.
if you can't afford a real one, buy a strike fire or other budget optic. you won't be disappointed.

(Those Sparc and strike fire things are pretty good for run and gun fun)

There's really little to no way to find out other than buying from an authorized dealer.

Sad reality is that a lot of the fakes are still up for sale at near authentic prices. So that's no longer an indication. Additionally, some of the knockoffs are far close to the real thing in look and feel.
some additional flags that perhaps be added to the sticky in the EE should be:
1) be wary of posts with no pics ( fewer eyes to judge the authenticity
2) be wary of a seller who didn't buy the item from a dealer and has no receipt

Theres a guy on here allways selling 3-4 eotechs at time,I keep looking at them but im still not 100% sure their legit.
