had some feeding trouble out of my new FAL mags for my RFB, so I decided to disassemble one. And found the rivet used to pin it at 5 rounds protruded about 5/16", preventing the spring from working smoothly. So now what? I cant remove the rivet without innocent people dying (apparently) and the mag wont function with it in. :runaway:
 
Yes, you can disassemble the mag and remove the pin in order to clean it, afterwards, simply reassemble with a shorter rivet
 
Seems to me that a rivet short enough to avoid the spring will also avoid the mag follower, thus rendering the whole issue moot. And savagly illegle

Your other option is to try and get more coils above the rivet. De-pin it, compress the spring from the bottom and re-pin it. Not sure what else can be done, really.
 
Rivets that protrude from the spine are not very satisfactory. You are far better off riveting a piece of metal to the floorplate that stands up through the centre of the spring coil to interfere with the follower.

The metal fal mag that came with my rfb was flawless until 300-400 rounds then it started having major failure. I switch to thermold mags and I am back to 100%. In fact even kel-tec switched to thermold mags.
