Thinking about buying one if these for my 700P in 308, to replace my 3200 tactical how are they holding up? I havnt heard much about them as far as reliablity and clarity. Which reticle is better? Thanks

I have 2 and both work very well on my 308s. Eye relief is good untill you get up to maximum powers. I have no problem shooting them out to 700 yds as far as my range will go. mine are in mil. mil. They both track very well. I concider them better than the 3200 and the 4200 scopes.
But maybe thats just me.

I would check out Vortex or Sightron instead. I've seen pics of Falcon scopes that literally fell apart at the seams. Apparently the tube was multiple pieces threaded together and broke at the base of the threads from recoil. The guys over on the snipershide forum don't have many good things to say about the light transmission on the Falcons.

Jerry AKA "mysticplayer" on this forum is a dealer for Sightron and a really great guy to deal with. You can PM him here, or find his email by clicking the Mystic Precision banner at the top right side of this page.

WSS and Grouse River Outfitters sell Vortex.

Be sure to check out the Sightron and Vortex websites.

I've got one of the newer Falcon 5.5-25X50 in Mil-Mil on top of my Stevens 200 in .308, and they're a one piece tube construction; no more issues with two-piece tubes breaking at the joint... Best optics you can get for the price...

I just bought the exact scope you are talking about to replace a 3200 10X on my Remington LE .308. I got it from Allen Gun Works for $484.00 with free shipping. I got the Metric version and am really happy with it. The side focus is nice. I am shooting at 500 m and clarity is good. Learning to use the mildots. The 3200 10X was good out to 300 m but this scope is much improved for shooting past that.

There was one lot number of 4.5-18x56 that had a problem with the two piece tube. We personally experienced one of these out of over 100 of that model and year sold.

Falcon has now gone to a one piece design on all of their models to avoid this problem. This was an isolated case and is not indicative of the quality of the rest of the Falcon line.

Just ordered a 5.5 x 25 Falcon for a 300 WM I have on the way. I wanted adjustable turrets without breaking the bank and was aware of the brand by way of Horus Vision, whose $400.00 reticles sometimes grace such brands as S & B, USO , and little ole Falcon. Whatever else these Falcons do, they keep good company ;).

Some guys don't like FFP scopes but I'm used to FFP with my T-Pal. Some guys like the fact that FFP reticles are unaffected by erector tube tolerance issues. Others don't care. The review I read on Sniper Central seemed rather glowing actually. I mean, they did bring some in to sell to their customers after trying them out. I'll feel bad if my new Falcon isn't good; and worse if its nearly as good as my T-pal .

I have a 4-14x44 FFP and im honestly not a huge fan of it... its a good scope for the price but the FFP is a bit much. I find the crosshairs cover alot of the target.

The glass and mechanics of the scope seem to be doing good though and its holding up just fine on my rifle. It was all I could afford at the time and I got a good deal so I went with it. Next piece of glass will be a Vortex Viper PST.

:D Something poetic about nailing 700 yd targets through a $400 scope. Like catching the big trout with your alder pole when you were a kid while the "big smoke" on the opposite bank was washing bait.

Hope it works this well for me. Thanx for the encouragement!

I just sent back a 5x25x56 model. I was super happy about everything when I received it because it seemed to be built like a tank. It was pretty bright and clear too (I only shot it out to 200 yards).

It did have a major problem though; the tracking was off (wouldn't return back to zero consistently) and when it would reach 25x zoom the reticle would actually move causing impact at 200 yards to move almost a foot. I was really bummed and wanted to try to get another one (I think I got a lemon, they generally have good reviews) but the vendor I got it from is sold out.

I have a few in stock.

The tracking problem could be due to a loose erector screw on the bottom of the scope. I have seen a couple come loose. A simple finger tightening is all that is required to solve the problem.

My 5.5x25x50 ML arrived today. First impressions = clarity is excellent on all but 25x power but certainly more than acceptable at all powers, especially at that price. Excellent reticle that does not expand unduly so as to cover a target even at 25x. Dark, fine, and well defined through all powers.

At $560.00 tax paid, to my door I was hoping to get lucky. I won't know the verdict till I mount and test it on the range, of course, but if this thing tracks and zeros, I've hit the jackpot. The Simmons' and Vortex comparable models are 000's $ more.
