I am interested in putting a "short dot" style magnified optic on my AR.

I am interested in these two at the moment...

It would be on a 16 inch LMT and would see (right now anyways) only out to 200 meters at my range and the odd 3 gun match.

Which is the better buy as they are roughly the same cost? Or if you have a better suggestion, that is always welcome. I am looking to stay under $500 for this scope.

I have had the DMS1 mounted on my Deerfield .44 carbine for about a year and a half....no complaints other than the weight (It is HEAVY!)

At 1X, both eyes open is very natural, almost identical to an eotech or other reflex sight...zoom in to 4 for longer shots. A head down, nose to the ground, back feet infront of the head running black bear makes a hell of a target at 20 yards...the DMS had no problems (Three times!)

I'd keep it, but found that every animal I shot was on 1X, so I just sold it and bought a Leupold Prismatic 1X to save weight....waiting for it to come in :)

The nice part about the DMS is that the reticle is etched....even when the red-sight is off, the circle dot is still there (only black instead of red)

If you want a variable optic thats also useable for CQB, I'd reccomend the DMS no problem.
