FWIW, my elevation knob seems fine, and I agree that the scope caps are better than advertised (no need to go Butler Creek).

I own both scopes; the 4.5x18x56 and the 4-14X44FFP and must say that they are fantastic for the money. Tracking is great, they work flawless period. When you get you Menace before you mount it on your rig, Work the power ring back and forth, this will help relieve some of the stiffness. Enjoy your new scope. Be safe, Have fun.

I took mine hunting whitetail...
I was impressed by the light transmission it offers when it gets dark. The only downside is that skinny reticle gets lost quickly after, but by the time you really cannot see it, you should head back home anyway so for hunting purpose its all good. I love it.
