Have a new rifle coming in that will need some glass. Was looking for something a little bit more than the typical 3-9x.

What I have in mind is the 4-14x 44mm. I have read reviews and so far they seem like a good scope for the money.

Reviews are great but I wasn't hoping to hear from people that have experience and have looked through one.

Cheers,
Nick

like Falcon

I have two Falcon scopes: 1.5-5x30SIR and 4-14x44 with the ML20 reticule and mrad turrets. I love them both. The larger variable is on the target rifle, a Sako .222Rem. It is clear, sharp and reproducible.
The smaller one was on my Sako .270Win hunting rifle, where it was bright, sharp and very usable in dimmer light.
It is not on my current hunting rifle simply because I have a Mauser sporter, and a 2.75x vintage scope to match the appearance. One day, the Falcon and the Mauser may meet at last, as my eyes aren't as young as once they were.
Bottom line is give Allen Gunworks a look (see banner) and buy one. You can't go wrong, imho.

Right on. Yea so far it seems to be the winner.

How do you like the growing reticle? (when you zoom in the reticle adjusts, military style)

THe FFP reticle is important for the use of the mildots.
I have no use for mildots, so I would prefer not to have the FFP or the mildots.
Having said that, my 4-14 FFP metric is a good scope. Adjustments are repeatable, parallax adjustment works, nice and bright.
I was concerned initially about the metric adjustments (1 CM./click/100m) until it occurred to me that this is basically 1/3 moa clicks.
I have also had excellent results from my 1.5-5, on my service rifle.

Yes. If you look around you will find comments by Hungry and myself respecting their use for service rifle competition. One of these scopes would also be excellent on a hunting rifle.
Keep in mind that these are both 30mm scopes, and are not compacts.

I have a Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 on my Savage 10BAS in .308. Have no problems seeing the bullet holes on target at 200m even in foggy conditions and the scope holds it's focus under recoil. Very happy with it, especially for the price.

I'm interested in this line of scopes. How does it compare to the Bushnell Series? The 3200? 4200? 6500?

I have a 6500 Elite, but the Falcon scope has MRAD adjustments (unlike my Bushy), and is roughly half the price. I'm needing a nifty scope for my upcoming .221 Fireball project. :D

I have the exact one your looking at buying. I put it on my .223 and couldn't be happier with the bang for your buck factor. All the bells and whistles for an affordable price with decent glass......buy one.

Sold. I'll order one on Monday. Think I'll slap some Burris rings and a one piece base.

I'm still torn whether to go with MOA or MRAD though. Guess I'll do some reading as to what's easier. I guess it's just a matter of preference and what you know.

They are a featured filled scope that has good value for the money spent but the optics are definitely in the mid range category.

I guess I have become more picky about the clarity I want in a scope and that has meant going to different brands/models and that also usually means more money. I would definitely give up a bell and whistle for better glass.

Was shooting with a gent that had a 14X menace and it seemed to track well. Like the reticle and some of the features. The SF didn't do as much as I wanted (not a big deal for most shooters) and the glass was mid grade (Elite 3200 like or worse).

They seem to be holding up nicely in use...

I have the falcon menace 4-14x44mm with the skeleton mildot reticle with half midot marks (can't remember the name of the reticle).

I love it, very nice scope, very impressed, would buy it again in a second. I have it on my Savage Mk2 .22 right now as I want to get used to it (have had it since mid summer), and eventually it will be on my Remmy 700 .243 for next summer once I get another batch of handloads ready over winter.

I find the glass quality is great, I compared leupold Mk4's and other high end scopes and I can't tell the difference. Not saying there is no difference, but if there is it is lost on me.

So far the scope is repeatable, doing box test etc.

Best part about it so far is the mil-rad turrets. 10 clicks = 1 mil, so you can easily adjust your clicks by looking through the scope. I used to spend a lot of time on "long range shooting simulator" and reading up on mil-moa ranging, and it's just a PITA after using metric turrets... I guess that's why the marines went with a S&B with metric turrets.

I recommend them to anyone.
