Fall Bear Hunting??

dont worry about not getting a spring bear. im from nb as well and didnt even see one. talked to the rangers at dnr in fred'ton and they said most of the ones brought in were pretty small. best luck is near a cranberry bog.

Amphib summed up the spring fall thing pretty good, loger and softer in the spring with Guard hairs. Exceptions being closer to the time they come out of Hibernation they could have winter rub.
Fall bears have shorter coarser hair but a fuller coat with exceptions going to the bears shot in early fall with summer rub.

Good and bad in both. Pick a good one.

if I could find the pic of DW and his first bear that he shot with a 710, you could really see the diff( if you see this put it up DW)

All really beautiful long coats

no rubbing yet either

I think early spring is great.....later spring with the heat you get rubbed coats. Early fall is rubbed coats still but later fall as it gets colder especially in snowy areas the coat gets longer and thicker again. But in my opinion early spring is the best......remember the hair is still growing well as the bear sleeps, so when he emerges from a den that coat is beautiful.
