Hello! Does anyone have any pointers they care to share for fall turkey hunting in Ontario? I'm looking for all the help I can get!

Our instructor in the turkey course said to find a group, run at em and bust em up, then sit and wait for them to come back.

That's all I've got, I've never tested it.

I took a nice young tom last season by using Khight &Hale fighting purr calls.
Nailed him about 15min after legal shoot time.
It's the only time when those calls worked for me .
I used them after listening to all the nonsense the turkey where making the morning before....like they where really going at it !
Hens where the noisiest and where to my left about 75 yd away.
Toms where ahead of me about 100yd . By listening to the two groups , I could tell the hens from the toms by the sound of the cackling...toms having a deeper cluck.
I wouldn't have noticed the diff without being able to hear them coming from different areas.
I already have vacation booked for fall turk season.:D

About 15min or so after busting up a flock , they'll start calling one another .
If you can mimick that call , one should come looking.

Thanks to everyone! I have been working on the "ke-ke-run" but so far it's more "drool, drool, slobber" lol! Timberlord, nice Tom! I can only hope my "vacation" is as sucessful..:D

busting the flock is basically a hit and miss tactic, but it does work sometimes so all you can do is try it out and see what happens. in the fall birds often travel in larger groups which makes it very easy to find what trails they are using along with roosting and feeding areas. calling isnt required if you're setup on the right trail/field.

the best tactic for fall turkey hunting? go out deer hunting. you'll often see all kinds of turkey when after deer, but once you start targeting birds you wont see any ;)
