Fall turkey picture

good for u.. congrats on a good hunt...
im not to up to par on hunting them,i took the course bought a few tags but thats as far as i got..do you call them in the fall the same as the spring?

That was My first fall Hunt,we have never had a season before this year in our area.

I was out on opening evening and did not see or hear any.
I went out on Friday late afternoon and set up on a travel corridor and did some soft calling every once in a while and had about 6 to 7 come through the pines feeding.
Two hens came past at 10 yards and I passed the shot.

On my way out I bumped a pair from the roost, judging from there size I believed they were toms.

I went in this morning and set up near where I thought the toms had flown too.
There were turkey all around in different trees clucking and yelping,at fly down I believe the toms flew out near the feild ,not sure , the hens landed all over and started to get the flock together.

I had a hen walk by at 10 yards and passed on that shot also, hoping for a Tom.
The turkeys assembled and got quiet and headed west away from me.I gave them 5 minutes and headed out to the field and worked around the large bush to get in front of them.(took about 30 minutes).

I set up on one of there travel routes and did some soft calling,I got a response from a hen, took about 3 hours for them to travel to where I was.

The hen came in to check out the other hen calling to her.
At about 15 yards she went behind a tree, died as she came out the other side.
I know she came 40 yards to the call, but they were traveling in that direction any way.

The tom will have to wait for spring.

Great Job!

My trailcam caught this guy a couple days ago. We only have a spring hunt in my area. Have never hunted turkey, but in the last couple years I see more and more of them.

Hunting Turkeys is like F###### once you do it you want to keep doing it over and over again.Give it a try you will love it.

Congrats. Got a Tom opening night. Had been seeing them all archery season. You pretty much have to set up on there travel corridors. You can use some clucks and purrs and the key key call but if you know where there going just as easy to set up. I think there pretty predictable this time of year compared to spring.

We got two hens friday night. Ate some last night. That was my first turkey. They definately seem alot easier to get in the fall. They're really predictable this time of year. Hopefully I manage a Tom next spring.
