So I wonder if we will be able to buy his calls at a HUGE discount now????
hahahahaha!

Let's all jump on the anti-American bandwagon, since it's common knowledge that Canadians never waste birds or any wildlife for that matter.
Be careful in making generalized comments like the above.I have personally witnessed and reported resident hunters tossing birds.
Make no mistake that Manitoba Conservation has zero interest in safeguarding the outfitting industry or American hunters, the contrary is true. After all, let's remember we have an NDP gov't and outfitting is a private enterprise.
Regardless of the above, wasting any type of game is a despicable act and anyone doing so should be prosecuted to the full extent, no matter their nationality or occupation.
Didn't recall mentioning anything about "Americans" in my post...you did though. With this said one only has to review yearly waterfowl convictions related to migratory game bird hunting in Manitoba. I can assure you almost 100 percent of these convictions will be non residents of Canada...ie: Americans. So there you have it ...I said it!
...and yes, wastage of game by local hunters certainly happens. Infact I would bet that over half of the birds shot in any one season by residents ends up in the garbage...as a lot of local folks simply fill the freezer and chuck the lot out in the spring.
Further to your comment about the present and hopefully soon to be former Provincial Government here in Manitoba being "anti tourism" because of private ventures is a rediculous comment IMO. One would have to look long and hard to find any government at any level that was opposed to people spending money in their province, especially in economically depressed regions. No insult intended or taken Bearkiller.![]()
How often do you see any type of major construction in Manitoba that's privately funded?
MTS Centre......Hydro building.......upcoming new stadium......the list goes on. Oh right, there's the Ikea store, however many meetings and feasibility studies it took them to "allow" them to come to Winnipeg.
In regard to tourism, I'm speaking from experience here, not emotion. I actually receive a list of suspended hunters from Manitoba Conservation every year and can assure you they are not 100% non resident.![]()

There is always two sides to every story. Has Foiles told his version yet? I'd be interested to hear it.
www.mnro.com/take down tales....every migratory bird hunter convicted of an offence(s) in the past five years was a non-resident or non-Canadian. One was even a licensed guide in the US...as Foiles is/was.Some of his (Foiles) filmed guided hunts were in Manitoba, thus Manitoba Consevation is looking for tips pertaining to the aforementioned.![]()
just one of the many examples of bad behavior that occurs when you mix hunting and money. It's a real shame.
Isn't it always the case that hunting brings out either the best or worst in a person...

These sorts of comments are BS.
You guys're suggesting we should sideways at any persons involved in the outfitting business, when it's a tiny per centage!
Fact is, there's unethical people in all walks of life. Don't take this case to throw everybody under the bus!
While they do provide oportunities for persons who wouldn't otherwise be able to take advantage of the hunting here, they can cause problems. For example, there are guides/outfitters that pay landowners per stand on their property and promote restricted hunting (their clients) on that property. This is not speculation, but rather fact, and it hurts resident hunters.I think the moment you mix money with hunting it is bad...

I agree.
The landowners wouldn't do this if there wasn't a return to them - and it is largely driven by the desire to harvest trophy game.
I feel if we buy the hunting video, the calls or the other branded stuff we are buying into the whole idea and promoting it too...
This type of stuff is why I don't subscribe to wild tv, I don't buy hunting videos and I steer clear of any crap that is marketed with an "outdoor celebrity endorsement".
I choose to buy equipment that is proven by guys that I trust and enjoy listening to - fellow hunters that don't make anything off the proceeds.

The key words in your statement are in bold. Your thoughts are typical Canadian socialist thinking. If it's my land, I can do what I damn well please with it. Those who don't like it can buy their own land.
