It's also not possible to convert a Stg44 to 7.62x39. The dimensions between 7.62x39 and 7.92 Kurtz just don't mix. The magwell would need enlarging, and that's just not in the cards.

Jaisis - the last guy to mention that in the Black and Green forum got flamed alive. I can kinda see where they're coming from tho, a lot of the importance of this rifle is in it's cartridge size and how it influenced history. Also it was probably too much work to make a reliable version in 7.62x39.

Also after goin through the stg thread, I think it's a different company making the .22 stg.

In the end, FG 42 is my preference simply because it won't/shouldn't be restricted. Depending on the price though (I may have to sell some family members to finance this), I could also get myself a non-restricted mg34 instead...... hmmmmmmmmm.

Don't get me wrong....if the ammo was easy to obtain I'd much go for the orignal round. But I want a rifle I can actually shoot, not just hang on the wall. Even a .223 version or something would be good. Not into the .22lr version though, gotta be at least centerfire for that kinda $$$.
 
THE FG-42;
Played with one this past week end, it is everything we expected, high quality, just like the others (Mp-38, Stg-44, etc) produced by this firm....
Production should beging this summer....
At the moment they are producing our next shipment so they are busy....
