About 10 years ago a friend of mine going through a bad split went through a similar accusation, cops came and took him to jail, took all his guns, he had to get a lawyer, and had to borrow money to pay for said lawyer, anyhow it was later proved that she was lying and he got all his guns back, the real kick in the a$$ was that he would not take her to court for costs because she had custody of their 2 kids and to take money from her would only hurt the kids(GREAT DAD). A few years later when another friend was going through a break up I told him this story and he was smart enough to get all his firearms out of the house and into other friends gun lockers mine included (he had a lot of guns), when she asked where the guns went he just said that he sold them. He later confided to me that he knew he had just dodged a bullet,(no pun intended). Moral of this story if your in relationship trouble gut you guns out of your house and into a trusted friends locker.
Also I made my son read this thread and his comeback was a simple BROS before H_S, smart kid.

Yes you can. I know this first hand (going through a separation myself). Get your buddy's details, including PAL number. Call the CFO- they'll give you an ATT to take it to his house, and a 'storage certificate' to keep the registry current. The important thing is that it has to be cleared, and he has to be licenced. Anything less and you're breaking the law.

When I went through my divorce several years ago my ex made up a lot of stories. It was so bad I asked my lawyer will I ever see my son again. His remarks shocked me to this day, “don’t worry almost everyone lies in a divorce case”. Well I got to see my son after the first day in court and because of the stories things went in my favor. Fortunately the ex-never did lie about the firearms and after the first set of stories my lawyer made sure every judge afterwards know what she was about.
Try to end it on good terms as it will save you a ton of cash and anguish. The three things lawyers learn in school are get the money, get the money, and get the money. As many say they like to keep you fighting until the money gone. My experience was not that bad but I have seen several that are.
