Famae SAF-200 or B&T TP9

I owned the TP9 for a while and have fired the SAF, but not the 2000. The SAF is a heavy beast compared to the TP9, which was very very light. Build quality of both is excellent. I didn't mind the Ergo's at all on the TP9. Some people have issues with length of pull of the stock if they use a shotgunners stance. I'm a tall guy and I never had issues. TP9 ran like a top. Very little recoil. The only things i didn't like:

1)The mags were pinned so that you couldn't insert them on a closed bolt when they were loaded to capacity (5)
2) Couldn't co-witness with factory sights with an optic installed.
3) Mags didn't drop free.

After having fired the SAF, I'd still pick the TP9. But I did sell it because the things I didn't like really began to bug me.

Thanks - appreciate the feedback! It sounds like the biggest issue was the magazines? Was it the pinning that prevented them from dropping free or just the design?

What didn't you like about the SAF - the weight?

Famae SAF-2000

Better gun IMO...

+1.

Famae SAF-2000 or B&T TP9: Which would you choose and why?

I can't speak for SAF 2000 but I did own a Famae a few years ago along with owning a TP9.
I found the Famae was more accurate and stayed on target when doing fast shots while the TP9 you had to do your part keeping it on target.I guess the weight of the Famae helped out.
I have since sold both guns which I regret.
I am currenty saving my coin to buy another Famae.

SAF receiver is stamped steel, can stack mags like on the Swiss Arms and all the controls are like on the Swiss Arms as well.

Also SAF has longer barrel so add some weight to that.

PS: It's SAF-200, not 2000.

I liked my old TP9 just because of the size and weight. It was very well made and shot just as expected. In the end, I ditched it for a few of the same reasons as posted above, although my mags dropped free if I recall correctly. They were pinned tightly so inserting on closed bolt was not possible.

It basically all came down to the fact that, when all is said and done, it's just a big pistol. I can get almost the same performance out of a Glock with a stock AND full size mags.

To be sure. I had a Glock+Hera setup which I really liked, but I've kind of been angling for a dedicated 9mm cousin to the Kriss Super-V. I do like the clear polymer magazines, integrated BUIS and folding stock on the TP9. And the fact that it's basically only 3lbs.

Regarding the mags, it was the pinning that was the problem for not being able to insert on a closed bolt. It was just a fraction too high and wouldn't allow the round to push down enough to insert it with all five loaded. A became a real pain in the ass. The pins weren't the problem with them dropping free. None of mine would drop free though, perhaps I had a molding defect in the mag-well on mine, though it was so well constructed I can't see that happening, I thought it was just part of the design.

I also had worries about the clear mags cracking or breaking feed lips, though none did in the time that I owned it.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I did have a $hit ton of mags, like 18 or something. If they had not dropped free, that would have been a serious issue for me. I know the tight pinning was one of my big issues.

^^18 mags! I think I had six! At $50 a mag it was a big part of the cost to kit it out....

Yeah I know. I had a bunch of trade toward one from one of the businesses. I also had the Safariland leg holster and MP9 railed top cover. The only thing I never did get was that $500 dummy supressor that you can't even shoot through.
