Famae saf hand guard

So I just recently purchased a Famae SAF 9mm, the full size one not the mini.

I recieved it in the mail today as found the box to be cracked. Once I opened it up I found the lower hand guard on it to be broken. I have contacted DHL and they will be sending someone out to look at it.

My question is in terms of a replacement part where the heck can I find one of these? I heard that the sig arms cqb hand guard is interchagable. Does any one know if this is true? And has anyone done it with a 9mm SAF? If so where can I find the sig cqb handguards?
 
I dont think it would fit, if you look at pictures of a Famae SAF and the Sig Arms CQB, the hand guard looks alot longer then the one on the Famae SAF....... But I could be wrong, It happens ALOT!
 
It claims on wikipedia they are interchangeable and they look the same on the saf .40 as the cqb so I am not sure the 9mm it looks a little different.
 
It is just the lower handguard that has to fit. Is it close, or could it be modified to work? What p*sses me off is I don't know what to tell DHL in terms of a replacement cost... No SAF owners have any sources for parts?
 
As far as I know no one carries them anymore. I bought it on the EE the gentleman I bought it from is great he's already offered a refund (I want to keep this baby tho) and he's trying as hard as me to help find a new part.
 
Have you tried speaking with Wolverine Supplies, They might beable to get one for you, Its a shot in the dark tho.....
 
No luck there already tried they only have the handguard for the mini. Does anyone know what the lower handguard for the swiss arms cqb would cost? or anyone have a spare they'd be willing to sell? I want to at least give that a try see if there is a way to make it work.
 
If DHL will pay for the replacement, I wonder about looking into having a billet one made with a rail on the bottom to mount a small foregrip. That way your fingers won't freeze so bad during the winter etc. Just thinking out loud here.

I have a spare CQB handguard set.... but, I don't it is gonna work.
 
The SAN handguards are about 5mm too wide on each side at the front. I suppose if someone was really good they might be able to heat them just right and reshape them, but it looks like a daunting task.
 
If i heated them up I prolly could force them to shape... I will have to try something right now the lower handguard is held on by electrical tape.

That wouldn't be too hard with a heat gun and some patience... I've probably done worse things before :p

IF you were careful enough then it looks possible to do? I'm not sure what the costs are but it looks like an option of which there doesn't seem to be many.
 
If it fit that would be incredibly ###y! And I do belive that would fit right on to your .40 SAF no problem! I still have to wait for DHL to call me back to come look at it and I will see what they say first.
