I recently purchased a Famae Mini SAF with 3 mags. Two of the mags had broken feedlips and are totally unservicable. I had previously adapted a Canadian C1 SMG Sterling mag to fit a SAF so decided to start there. The first and second mags are converted and the third is original

First step was to grind down the lips at the front of the magazine to just fit in the magazine well
Step two Was to grind of the rear magazine spacer/mag stop that is part way down the mag. ( the front one is left completely as it is )
Step three is to remove the metal between the feedlips at the rear of the mag to allow the bolt to pick up the round
Step Four was to remove the bolt hold open device from the receiver as the rounds kept activating it.
The magazine catch works perfectly in the top round hole at the rear of the mag.
So far I have tried it with dummy rounds and it works fine. Saturday will be the acid test with live rounds at the range.
Just back from the range and the Adapted Sterling mags performed flawlessly. They were pinned at 5 1/2 rds and would clip in with a full 5 rounds whereas the original mag would not. The 10 round AR-15 pistol mag would not clip in with 10 but functioned well with 9. Will do some more Sterling mags soon.
Tried one in my friends 40 S&W SAF and it would not fit as the mag well is slightly smaller. Will custom build one for him and see if it works. Holds 4 rounds. Managed to make one for the SAF 40 and it functions as it should. I did not have to remove the Bolt Holt open device in the frame. Buddy is heading for the range to try it out sometime this week.
