Famae SAF ; prohib?

Used to own one, a fun little gun, very rugged and well made, traded mine even-steven for a Benelli M2 Tactical. Now I see some asking prices of $3K and up for them just a couple of years later:eek:

Yeah, they were in the $1600 range, IIRC, when Wolverine was selling them in 2005. I had one, and thought the fit and finish was poor. It is no Swiss Arms in that department.

I have no complaints about the fit and finish of the Famae SAF - maybe I was just lucky. I believe you can still find them on the EE anywhere between $1,600 and $2,400, depending on how many extra mags it comes with. I like it better than the B&T TP9 - the trigger is lighter/smoother. The Famae SAF is also easy to field strip and clean. It's got some weight to it, so it's less affected by recoil and easier to keep on target, firing in rapid succession. The plastic mags are limited to 5 rounds, quite fragile, expensive and difficult to find. An alternative might be an AR-15 in 9mm or a Roni carbine kit for your Glock 17 or 22 - at least then, you can use the 10 round pistol mags.

Had one when they were first introduced in Canada.
With the fixed stock, it was as close to an MP5 that a 'civvie' was going to get.
Had a smith do what he could to lighter the incredibly heavy trigger pull...
The mags were the weak link...horrible, plastic s**t that refused to function well and bound like a bugger in the magwell..
Accurate, fun to shoot...but the magazine issue, as well as the total lack of parts availability led me to trade it in many moons ago....
There is no real similar unit available today.
I have my 9MM AR and CX4 to fill my 9MM 'sub gun needs', and a USC with a short barrel to handle the 'heavy' end of the spectrum...

Have one in .40cal. Mags are metal not plastic. Great shooter and dead accurate. Wish I had more cash before b/c would have also wanted to buy the mini.

they were inported through a vendor that I understand also supplies suppressors. The door was closed when the owner of famae found out.
the chilian did not want his firearms sold to civilians in canada.. Or that was the way the story was explained to me.
I actually know someone who has a cabin at the lake next to the ower of famae. He said the neighbor has his own landing strip.
