So my intent is to get a thread going to share some reviews and data on the 542

I just got mine last week and took it to the range yesterday.
I sighted in with some cheap (free) 140gn MSF ammo.
Shot #11-15 was a string of holes an inch wide at 100m.
I was super impressed. But I gotta feeling the recoil fragged my cheap POS scope I put on (NC Star Ultimate Sighting System Gen. II). I didn't have much cash left after buying the rifle!
It started shooting big spreads vertically but still within 1.5in horizontal (with 168gn Remington Match).
I'm hoping the scope is the weak link in the system.
I will put a spare Vortex Diamondback 2-7 on it to see if it is an optics issue.
Even with the vertical spread problem, I managed to get 4 hits out of 10 shots on a torso sihlouette at 500m.
Not bad, all things considered.
Initially, I had good results so I'm hoping the scope was the problem.
I tried some Remington core-lock 150gn and 180gn and the match 168gn.
Hard to find 165gn c-l this time of year, so the comparrison might not be valid, but the largest groups were with the 150's, much better with the 180's, but it liked the 168's the best.
Hindsight is 20/20, I can always try it with the iron sights to see if that works better than the current scope, but I'll need to get more ammo and some free time. More to follow on that in a few weeks.

Hoping to hear other peoples experiences, and range results.
Overall, I love the build quality an simplicity of design.
Easier to clean than any AR. There's only five parts to remove, plus the 2 take-down pins. I like being able to take the gas tube right out. It's a 1/2in diameter, straight tube, so it's easily cleaned with a .50cal bore snake.
