Famae sg 542 spent brass

Took my 542 out to the field today for the first time .
I just received my battle rifle from canada post not signed for left in the front lobby .
Enough of that let's get back at it . So I went into the mountains to cycle 40-60 rds of factory win brass 150
im hoping I'm doing something wrong but it's crimping the neck very bad almost unusable
and is scaring the brass mid casing with a almost cut in the brass .
someone else mentioned that the brass was being ejected 20-45 feet
this would be my experience

hopefully someone has some pointers as I want to reuse this brass ....

Probably what is happening upon ejection is the casing is hitting the receiver(more like rear of ejection port)before fully ejecting. This is normal on a lot of guns. Basically by hitting the receiver it redirects ejection to 1 or 2 o clock direction. Back in the day, my father had an Hk 91. Notorious for dinging brass, especially the neck area as I recall. It happens too fast for the eye to see but if you look at the port, you may see where the brass may have been hitting.

You don't reload brass in a battle, battle rifles are not built to be gentle to the brass. It is likely still reload able from what I've seen mine do to the brass so far but it is not ideal.

It would've interesting to see if a different load has the rifle chuck the brass in a different manner. At least, this is what I seem to notice from my M14 type rifle.

Like 7.62NATO says, it's the case hitting the receiver on its way out. That is fairly typical of most semi-auto battle rifles. The distance it's throwing 'em is typical too. The theory(and it's kind of daft) is that it keeps a wee pile of shiney brass from building near a PBI troopie's position.
The cases might be usable for reloading just the same though. Use needle nosed pliers to open the case mouth enough for the expander button to fit. The case body dents usually don't matter. They'll come out with no fuss or any issue upon firing.
