Just bought this, was looking for a good NR .223, I had good things about the Famae's, the butt stock was short for me so I bought a adapter so I could put a M4 buffer tube with a Magpul CTR stock on it, also bought the scope rail and AR mag conversion for it. The rifle shoots great, but is hard on the brass. My AR-15 has a tight chamber and I have to use a small base die to reload for it, but this rifle will eat anything you put in it. I am really impressed with this rifle

When i first took it out with mag conversion, it did not work, but it said some rifles need the bolt release shortened, which i did not do before. i have now shortened it, but have not had a chance to try it

How does the straight line butt stock change the feel and the cheek weld?

For me, the butt stock change vastly improved the handling of the rifle for me, it added at least 2 inches of length of pull, and the scope it positioned perfectly. I do not like folding stocks, but this one is rock solid and was only alternative to get some extra length

Looks good but seems like an awful lot of scope for a 223 battle rifle. Are you just running that while doing some accuracy testing with different ammo?
Not sure how your cheek weld is with that setup but it looks like you could use one of the snap on cheek risers that works with those stocks (they're cheap).
Personally, I would have stuck to the original magazines, if they are the same as the Swiss Arms mags they are a much better magazine than STANAG pattern magazines and can be found for a pretty reasonable price these days. I understand wanting to use magazines you already have lots of but to spend money to use a less reliable magazine doesn't make sense to me. I'm guessing it's pretty much entirely so you can run pistol mags.

Either way, looks good, looking forward to hearing how it shoots.

Nice looking set up.

Only issue I see on it is your scope mounting method. I first tried the ar cantilever mount as well but found it to position the scope way too high. The cheek weld (or lack thereof) was horrendous. Also optic height over bore was way too much. I thought about using a cheek riser but they are only a bandaid solution that doesn't do anything to solve the real problem.

Here's what I did to fix that

The scope is now positioned perfectly for both cheek weld and height over bore. If you're running optics you don't need the rear sight installed anyways. I could even mount a scope lower if it had a smaller diameter eyepiece than this one.
I had a Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 1.5-4 mounted originally using low height rings and it just barely cleared. But I wanted more magnification for coyote hunting and had the Vortex sitting around. Because the eyepiece is bigger I had to use higher rings. Still sits way better than a scope in a cantilever mount.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Maybe it is my build, but the scope sits perfectly for me, no need for a cheek rise, if it was any lower I have problems looking thru the glass with my glasses. The scope is a 3 - 12 x 44 which I have always used on a .223, I don't think that is to much scope for this rifle

Scope sits fine for you because you changed your stock out raising where your cheek sits.
The other guy is still using the original stock that dips down.

If your set up fits and feels right for you that's all that matters. You're the guy using it. I had to do what felt best for me. You will love your Famae. I love mine. I don't think they get the credit they deserve.

ENJOY!!!

I just had my muzzle threaded by Insite Arms out of Alberta, they did a great job, I put a precision armament M4-72 muzzle brake on. I am hoping to get out Saturday and shoot it .
