Per the title, I understand these have been available as 5.56mm NR rifles for a couple years now. What do owners think of them? I've been thinking about getting one. Also, are the magazines for them from CanadaAmmo any good?

Thanks!

I have a 540 with a 3-9 leupold on it.
I use Canada ammo magazines in it works good for me.I was thinking about the stanag mag conversion but the original canada ammo mags work well.
The mags are pinned at 4 though 5 will not fit in.black mags from can ammo.
The 540 has a really different grip angle if you are used to an ar style rifle.
The saftey is ambi but a little hard to get to.
Accuracy is acceptable with decent ammo it is a 1.5 incher at 100 m.
keep in mind i do not hand load for this i use factory bulk ammo and only 55 grain.Other grains etc could be better.Hornady steel match is good 55hp.
I am happy with mine . My round count out of it is around 1000.Few eject failures on break in then it is fine.

I've only handled one in the store, never shot one. Based on that I think they are a little overpriced but not bad. They are definitely not at the same level as my Swiss Arms classic green was for fit and finish but they aren't bad.
I think the worst thing about them is the cost of mags. The 308 ones are over $100 each but if the 223 version takes the same mags as a SA then it's not much of a concern as you can get those fairly easily.
Give one a shot and tell us how it is, I've been tempted by them a few times but never bought one.

I had a 540 for a short period of time. Cool rifle, very soft shooting. I ended up trading it as the ergo's were a bit old school for me (non free float handguard etc). The mags from Canada Ammo worked great in mine.

I had mine tricked out with the top rail and an ar15 stock adapter. Cool gun, but it wasn't for me. Also, accessories were very expensive. Mine had a pinned flash hider as well so I couldn't upgrade to a different one without some effort.

I Love mine. I do love most anything in 5.56.
Battle rifle acciuacy with bulk, so 1.5 to 2.0 if you do your part, slight better with glass but great iron sights and less weight.
Reliasble.
Identical ergos to my Swiss Arms.
Mags from Canada Ammo work flawlessly.
Optics are available to mount in a number of ways, either the Manurhin quick squeeze and remove mounts or the various rails.
Even a pound and a half lighter than a Swiss rifle but everyone forgets to mention this.

I really do love the Swiss rifle, but these might be a better value if cost and weight are a factor.

My 542 is one of my favorite rifles. Running on 400 rounds now zero issues. can't really attest to accuracy as I'm still running irons. the mags are certainly a killer though sadly.

I had one for a short time. It was accurate, and seemed like it could survive just about anything. The machining on the bolt carrier etc was impressive. It was too heavy though. I tend to go through 1-3 tacticool guns a year just to find the perfect one. I have had or shot almost everything available that is non-res. I currently have a MH and I think this may be true love. Now I am getting off topic lol. Anyways they are great rifles for the $$$ IMO. I doubt you would ever see anything break on them.

IMG_0481.jpgI have the 542 and really like it!! Every time I pick it up I think man now this is a battle rifle! Awesome rifle and fairly accurate at short to medium distance's with the irons. I don't think I'd ever sell or trade it!
