family mistakes.

Let it sit till the wood dries and try the brass rod and hammer or take the brass rod and sharpen one end by making it flat like a speed bore bit, put it in a drill and try to slowly drill it out.

Yes ,wet wood will swell making it even tighter. At least the brass won't hurt the steel rifling.Note to self never lend a gun.

Don't pour anything down your bore! wood will swell when oil hits it and lye/ caustic stuff will work its way into your action screwing up your gun and voiding any warranty you might have had . depending on your gun I would buy a bore sized cleaning rod and attempt to remove the sticks or tell your brother he just bought a gun and paid for about 3 hours of your time wasted messing with it. Or take it to a smith who works on air rifles and get your brother to pay for it .

Pieces of wood will collectively form a chain of wedges that will not loosen, especially if water or oil is introduced. Make a drill bit, either by sharpening a brass rod, as has already been suggested, or glue (red locktight) a drill bit into the end of a cleaning rod, and use it, drilling by hand (!) e.g. turn the improvised bit with vise grips, pulling out the cuttings frequently. Get your poor brother to help so that he learns something. You haven't mentioned his age but in the end family is more important than our toys.

+1 for the help of the Brother...

I shot many form of stick, branches, bubble gum(Dried) with my first pellet gun. My uncle gave me an hard time when I had bad jams lol. I was maybe 7-8 years old at that time!

does the pet shop sell termites? I know they sell crickets for lizard food. If they do buy a male and female, drop the male in one end the female in the other, and clean out the poop in a week. Good luck.

drive an icepick into the eye socket, right above the eye. then hit the end of the icepick with a hammer to drive it in further, and swivel the pick around to sever the prefrontal lobe’s nerve connections.

that procedure will not fix the obstruction in the barrel.....

I'd go with the brass rod sharpened into a scraper. The oil wasn't such a good idea, as it caused the wood to swell, most likely. If the wood was green, you could try drying the gun out in a low-temperature oven or in a cabinet with a de-humidifier. maybe if it dries out, it may fall out.

.177 cal?
Get a 1/8 inch bronze Brazing rod from someone that welds, or a welding supply place.

Put the end on something smooth and solid, like your brothers forehead, a smooth rock, or a chunk of metal of some sort, and tap it flat with a hammer. File it to shape to use it as a drill (Google "Spade Drill"). You want it to come out looking pretty much like http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/MICRO-100-Solid-Spade-Drill-Bit-16R809?Pid=search on the end, but with the last bit a small amount wider than the shank of the rod.

Hammering the end flat saves file work, and hardens the bronze a bit, though not enough to cut steel with. Some careful file work will shape the end. It does not need to be perfect, just pretty close.
Watch that the cutting edge you make, is facing the right direction for the drill to turn. It'll cut faster that way!:)

Use a electric drill to turn it. A wrap of tape around the rod will prevent damage to the bore if you are worried about the bronze rubbing. One layer of tape only, or the shaft gets too big.

Pick an end, and start drilling. Remove the drill often and shake out the dust, repeat until through.
Drills like this can be used to remove stuck bullets too. Use the largest size rod you can fit in the bore with a layer of tape on it.

Cheers
