Fancy BRNO SxS

Very nice!

There doesn't seems to be much on the web when it comes to engraved BRNO shotgun, that is, unless you speak Czech.
- This guy has a few pictures of different patterns.

This is what I was half-expecting on the barrel

But searching some more, seems like they did offered engraved receiver with plain barrel.

I've often wondered how much the decorative somewhat heavy-handed deep Baroque engraving (carving?) on continental European guns might affect the strength of the parts.

I'm sure in theory, it does reduce strength.
- In practice? Most likely a non-issue... unless you're dealing with a amateur engraver that went overboard.

Thinking about a 12g
- Typical 2.75'' load is around 11,500psa
- 12g proofing pressure is around 20,000psi

A few years back, one of the ballistic institute in the US did some test on 870's barrel.
- The thing failed when they reached 55,000 psi

Eatons in Toronto sold them as well -- how many reasonably priced genuine sidelock shotguns are around? Certainly not these anymore.

Personally, I find this ornate faux-Baroque decoration very unappealling. I will take the clean precise lines of unadorned gun architecture anyday. But everyone to their own.
