Take a 270 Win and neck it up to 308 - I'll call it a "30 Andy" or for you metric aficianados, a "7.62X63".

We know all of the shortcomings of the 270, so we could neck it up and use 220 gr of heavier bullets, and you could still go light with 100 gr for varmints, all using readily available 270 brass.

Remember - I thought of it first. ;)

Or maybe it could be called "30-06"?

what a genius you are... CGN Finest you should be called from now on.

BTW the "wildcat" you invented exists since over 100 years, it's called 30-06

Great idea, Andy!
Everybody has tried the 6.5-.284. I've been promoting the 7mm-.284. Case forming is much easier.

LMAO! The .308 crowd must love you! Maybe you could call it the "Andy Dandy .308 Ultra Mag."

If the 30-06 was just being introduced now, with no history, and no surplus military rifles,it would be interesting to see if it could even survive in today's competitive marketplace.

See, what ***I*** would do with a 270 is:

-Chop the case
-Neck the body down to .30 caliber

I call mine the .30 Doctor-Ordered Operational, Match (.30 DOOM, for short).

I would stay with the necked up 270 But I would shorten the case to maybe two inches...let's say 2.015 inches case length..

I bet you would have a real good-performing all-around calibre.

See above. It's already been called the .30 DOOM. In your FACE! I win at creativity! Patent pending, mofos! :D

Pfff...get with the times grampa...it's all about MAGNUMS now!

I personally would like to see a wildcat of the .270 WSM necked up to .308 cal  .....call it the .30-06 WSM maybe?
