Fantastic Idea for New 30 Cal Wildcat!

Take a 270 Win and neck it up to 308 - I'll call it a "30 Andy" or for you metric aficianados, a "7.62X63".

We know all of the shortcomings of the 270, so we could neck it up and use 220 gr of heavier bullets, and you could still go light with 100 gr for varmints, all using readily available 270 brass.

Remember - I thought of it first.

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with 260 Remington. Necked up to either 7mm or .308 it would make a great all around cartridge.

Everybody has tried the 6.5-.284. I've been promoting the 7mm-.284. Case forming is much easier.

-Chop the case
-Neck the body down to .30 caliber

I call mine the .30 Doctor-Ordered Operational, Match (.30 DOOM, for short).

Or take that great lever cartridge the .307 and make it rimless. would be a great all around hunting cartridge for bolt guns.
