Today was one of those great days where everything goes right and even the weather cooperated. I took my son to the range to test fire the ruger 22/45 after completing some mods. I got rid of the stupid mag disconnect and installed a volquartsen trigger. What a difference! For a total of about 40$ delivered from Brownells (trigger and hammer bushing) the trigger is awesome. I kept the stock sear spring/sear/and hammer but polished a bit. Now it breaks clean at 4 pounds with very little travel. My son is getting better with his pistol shooting and together we put through 600 rounds WITH NOT ONE FTE or FTF. That is unbelievable to me as very few semi auto rimfires have functioned this well for me. Ran like a top with the bonus of mags dropping free thanks to the disconnect being in the garbage bin where it belongs :D

We used CCI blaser and some win high velocity bulk stuff. He is almost 12 and he even shot the 1911's in 45acp pretty well, although he started to get flinchy so I sent him back to the 22lr.

Such a great day I just had to share:cheers:

There is nothing better than shooting with your kids. My oldest boy (12) has been shooting 45acp for a couple of years already! Gotta get them started young.

And yes, 600 rounds without any malfunctions is pretty good for a modern 22LR pistol. I just bought a Browning Buck Mark and hope it performs like yours. It's coming in da mail.....

Did a similar trick-out to mine. Tossed the mag disconnect (besides lawyers, who thinks that is a good idea?), kept the trigger but swapped out the sear and hammer. Been thinking of doing the slingshot mod as well. Also, added some panels to the grip to thicken it up a bit.
It was a good gun before, now it's great :D.
