Hello Gang,

I've been lurking a few days now so time to introduce. I'm getting back into shooting after a too long absence. Reading about wait times. How about 5 years between having a FAC to getting my R-PAL. Long story short is yes I own but getting a R- Course in the NWT was limited. Tack on to that the Centre holding my application for almost a year. Well that's behind me so, time to get back into the sport.

I've been hunting since 12 and learned my shooting on an old single shot Cooey with no padding on the stock! Quick lesson on proper shouldering huh? About the age of 15 I got some interest in pistols and became a bit of a weekend range rat at a local indoor range (in Ontario). Still think back to the respect I was shown and the adult treatment I received by shooters and the range owners/operators. Was asked to prove my knowledge verbally, show my safety skills then asked to shoot a .22 on the range. (Thought I was to good for that but, the owner and I agreed on a 32 cal.:) ). Proved my safety and was allowed in to shoot (no membership even!). Members let me try their firearms. Shot up to a 45 apc which was plenty exciting enough for me! Unfortunately the range closed about a year and half later due to ventilation issues. Could not get all the way out to the other range (an outdoor one).

Anyway, years of hunting in Ontario went buy, moved up north, haven't shot other than at a range in Edmonton last year. Wouldn't you know it, picked up the bug again. (Age 37) Well, finally got the R-PAL in order as stated and getting ready to tune in my two new purchases. A Norinco P226 Copy 9MM and a Glock 17 9 mm. (one type ammo to save on costs!) ATT should be in the mail this week!

Looking forward to getting my safety mannerisms in place, my political pissy hat on and attitude of telling everyone why this remains a LEGIT sanctioned sport!

I've only had limited contact with local members but I know they're a safety conscious membership with strong promotional values. I've a few ideas myself I'd like to present to the NFA of Canada on promoting the activity of safety conscious shooters.

First things first, I need to get my terminology back on track and make sure my safety is up to 100% standard.

Another supporter in the midst....looking to recruit another generation!

Best to all.... promote the safety of this sport!

Scott

Welcome to the site :welcome: Sometimes being in the north does lead to delays. I'm south of you and even here I know where you're coming from.

What year's your Dart, HD? My buddy restored a '67. He rebuilt a slap stick tranny and installed a 273cid built to the hilt for it
