Farm deer are different?

The walk to the stand, is about 800 yards, probably more.
I parked on the road this morning, as there was little traffic, and spent a few hours calling. The deer seem to be coming down a trail closer to my stand now, maybe it's the scent I've been using. Saw nothing.
Came back out to the jeep, and  there are a half dozen fresh tracks, crossing the road, so close to the back of the vehicle, they may have brushed it on the way by.
Such is hunting. :)
A few days left.:)
i just got the local witch doctor here to to give you and bow a good luck charm...take your time with shot, and bring a sharp knife..bring camera to post the pic;)

JYC I just gotta say thanks for this story (which I'm glued to) about your late season deer hunt.

Just finished my own end of the season attempt Dec 10 with about 8 days of hard hunting. I was skunked for the first year in a long while. So was everyone I know around here. I love the late season hunt if albeit a little frustrating at times    The f*@kers just disapeared. But not the sign

Hang in there bud, I want you to connect!

Were they walking in or out of the field... they could be busting you when you walk in... any other reasonable approch to your stand?

as to the deer walking by your truck...for about the last five years..ive had burnt out knee,s...so in order to get to my spot i drive in as far as i can..
im usally with in 50 yards of my truck...the deer are not leary of my truck in the least little bit...in fact if you set up right you can use your truck to help build up a blind around you..(just dont shoot through the truck to get the deer):p ..
in the five years of doing this..a tag was filled:)

he only possible entry in the completely open roadside. The other three sides of the property are private, and not available to me. The filed itself, has a private bush on one side, the other three sides are completely open. The only cover is the fence line, and the few trees and shrubs it provides. I use that cover as best I can. If the wind is wrong, there isn't a lot i can do about it, except use de-scenting crap.
Going in in daylight, there is no hope of being un detectable. You can only hope that by keeping to the far fence you are ignored.

fogducker, if I had a tractor, I could probably drive right up on them. But I don't, and it bugs me having a vehicle near me, wether or not it bugs the deer.
I'm out of site of the road, and my Jeep, it's a long narrow hundred acres. Almost goes through to the next concession. I wish it did.
Next year, I'm either going to buy, or build a portable tree stand I can set up after the gun hunt.
Landowner doesn't want anything built on property.

Now is a good time to look for #### because it'll sit on top of the snow you'll find a spot if you look hard enough that the deer are coming to like a apple tree with it's apples frozen and still on or a mature oak with acorns right after a good snow is the time they'll come to these spots as they don't have to work too hard to find the feed Xbow season ended yesterday didn't it.

jyc...do you have some plan,s for a stand to build?if you got a plan:) i can help you out at work:D ..as long as i get to steal a plan of it
The place i'm helping out at right nowhas steel crates that mowers come packed in, and a welder. I got a couple of pics of tree stnads, and have done a few personal inpections, so I figure I can wing it. One of the guys at the shop has built one before he says, so we should be able to come up with something. Might need wheels for it though.

well if you need a wheel it will be heavy...just a hint...make the package to compact as a wheel burrow..the bigger the tire the easier it will move for ya..a bike tire maybe?;)

the witch doc is my sis...told ya she was vooodoo..
but back to that cart...it got some wheels turning here:D
a bike tire for wheel...
the main part of the wheel burrow will be the stand in the tree..
the handles for it ..will be the ladder..
shoot your deer put all togeather...then wheel your game out of bush:D
i gotta work on this..think im on to something:D
