Faster burning for small barrel?

I have a 7-08 lightweight hunter from savage with a 20" barrel
I used imr 4350. Rl15 but dont have really good result so one my friend suggest faster burning powder like h414, imr 3031, blue dot.
But I cant find an idea of load with those.
I wanna use a 150 g ballistic tip from nosler in284
Cansomeonehelp me like a program that you can choose your powder from a large possibility not less than15 like in nosler book.!

Look on the Hodgdon Powder website. they have loads with 10-12 different powders in 4-5 different bullet weights. http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp
I use IMR4064 in 7mm-08 with 120 and 140 gr bullets in an 18" barrelled rifle. Works good.

As mentioned check the Hogdon website. As for friend's advice....
4350 is medium and about on par with 414
Reloder 15 is about on par with 3031 (a bit slower, but close enough when talking fast or slow powders)
Blue Dot is for uniquely designed loads, such as varmint weight bullets that are shot at less than top velocity.

Don't know what 'don't have really good results' means. Poor accuracy compared to factory loads, or.....? If you tell us what your poor results are, then perhaps we can provide some additional advice.
 
There are no powders "tuned" to various barrel lengths.

The powder that gives the highest MV with a long barrel will do the same in a short barrel. You will always get the highest MV by operating at highest peak pressure, with a powder that fills the case the most (slowest possible powder). A pound of powder contains essentially the same amount of energy regardless of type or "burn rate", so it's how much you can pack into a cartridge while not exceeding peak pressure limits that determines MV.

While these are correct if all you are after is maximum velocity, using the slowest powder possible may not give the best consistency and accuracy.

OP will just have to try a few and see what works in his rifle with his chosen bullet weight. OP, when you say you are not getting good results, what do you mean? Poor velocity, poor accuracy, what?

The poor result are velocity: suppose if I check with my reloading book to get 2800 but only getting 2600. Is this because of 4-6 inches less on my barrel?
On the other side I tried hornady superperformance and I get what is it suppose (on the box). The problem is I don't have enough hornady to go hunting.
 
One thing is sure, fire slow burning powder for a short barrel and you'll end up with a huge muzzle blast, all that for an extra 100-150fps !
I've tried this summer with a 243 Win and 270 WSM loaded with Retumbo (super blast), H4831 (some blast), H4350 (much better) and Varget.

I ran a couple of simulations with Quickload and pressure at the muzzle is much higher with slow burning powder.

As with any rifle, the powder that produces top velocity doesn't always give the best accuracy, but the point remains that barrel length doesn't affect which powders will give the best velocity in a given chambering...

Yes - I sometimes find that the slowest powder and hence the one that delivers the highest MV is not the most accurate, but I have found that accurate loads tend to be at the high end of safe pressure.

I don't consider the magnitude of the muzzle blast an issue when hunting. The deer has already been hit before it registers the sight and sound of the blast.

It is muzzle pressure that creates the sound, and the sight is the by-products of the combustion meeting fresh air. Since you can use more powder with a slower powder, more gas is produced and hence the pressure is maintained longer including at the muzzle. The powder is all burned up in the first 3-4" of the barrel, perhaps 2-3" for the fastest powders.
 
Faster burning powder will not give you better velocity, as the OP states is the problem. At least not within the same pressure range.
If the OP has loaded up to the maximum recommended powder charge (such as from the Hogdon website), and is still several hundred feet per second slower than predicted, I would suggest another powder in the same range (such as H4350 instead of IMR 4350) or 760, or one of the Reloder series.
Or, switch to a lighter bullet than the 150 grain that he wants to use. The 139 grain range could prove useful.
