Fastest way to zero a rifle scope?

Put a target out to25 yards. Set your rifle up on some sandbags. Remove the bolt. Look down the bore from behind and move the rifle until the centre of the target is centred in the bore. Making sure not to bump the rifle, look through the scope to see where the crosshairs are. Adjust the scope until the crosshairs are centred on the target too. Fire the first shot at 25 yards. Good luck.

X2. That is your best bet. Get a box of cheap ammo for the test and fine tune with better after.

When you are doing all this turrent twisting don't forget that you need to turn the turrent the opposite direction when looking through the bore .. ie. down is up and left is right

Same applies when holding your cross hair on the bullseye (POA) then moving your cross hair to the bullet hole..

After you are on the paper by manually bore sighting it( looking through the barrel as everyone mentioned) do what Super said. After your shot, make sure not to move the rifle, and adjust the elevation and windage until the crosshairs are exactly centered on the bullet hole where the shot you just fired hit. Now shoot again aiming at the bullseye. You should be right on target. If you did this at 50 yards, now do the same thing at 100yards, and you should only have minor adjustments.

this works awesome. 5 shots and rifle is dead on

Another methiod I heard of is to sand bag you gun up and get ti good and secure, remove the bolt and insert a empty shell with the primer removed. this gives you a smaller hole to aim throught making it more accurate. and just do all the other steps from the other people.

sorry guys the best way is to bore sight at 25 yds, fire a shot at the center of the target, mark your bullet, again sight at the center of the target, same spot you aimed at the first time, hold the rifle and move the cross hairs to the bullet hole. When they line up you have sighted in your rifle with one shot. It will be within an inch or two at one hundred. It works.

I zeroed my new scope at the 600 yards line! :D Boresighted the scope, sent a round... Spotted impact about 5' under the target on the stopper. Second round was on paper.

But usually, I boresight at 50m and it's always on paper. It can be done at 100m but if the target isn't large enough you may not land on it. 50m is easier, and if you're set at 50m and you'll be pretty damn close at 100m, only fine tuning remaining.

And that is interesting indeed. I'll have to give it a try next time. :)

Or you could register where the first cold bore hits, and then shoot hot till you get the desired results, then adjust and let cool down then shoot again!

Then shoot again cold barrel and see where she shoots, and adjust accordinally and then wait again till barrell is cool and then adjust untill you get a cool barrel zero! Then you have a cold barrel zero and unless you need a secound shot you will be good to go!

The cold barrel shot is the way to go(assuming you have cleaned )and have a true cleaned cold barrel shot!

I'm sure there are many ways to go about this(fowled barrel )and such!

Just what ever works for you!
