Absolutely Ridiculous, how is a man and young girl possibly mistaken for Deer, unacceptable excuse, always know your target & beyond..

Well, there was the woman who shot her husband, mistaking him for a bear. got off too. Anything is possible, it seem.

I’ll just say it, there are a lot of people that shouldn’t be allowed out of their homes let alone own firearms.

Sad deal.. Wear orange people..You can be seen 2 km. down the clearcut
I just don't get playing commando

Wizard advice.
I always positively identify my target before pulling the trigger for fear of doing something like this. Sad story.

Here in Alberta two people wearing orange and riding a red ATV were shot and killed , you can't fix stupid. We used to have a color requirement here, and since it was done away with, the number of accidental shootings didn't suddenly increase. Don't worry about color, use binoculars, and properly ide try your target.

Jeez, what's going on in South Carolina? If I remember correctly a 9 year old boy was accidentally shot and killed by his father earlier in the season.

Short seasons with thousands of people in the field, some of whom don't have a clue, probably part of the problem. They shoot people regular as clock work down there.

Unless ur shooting from Canada into the USA I can’t understand how u cannot see what ur shooting at . It almost all sounds like purposeful shootings .

I was riding my dirt bike during hunting season here in Ottawa at limerick forest for those who know it . I drove past a hunter and he looked pissed as #### even though IMO it’s a great place to ride but a ####ty place to hunt . He likely coulda waited and shot me and said it was a mistake , I’m dead and it’s basically his word

Rest well assured, law enforcement will be keenly interested. There's likely lots more to the story.

Maybe he could have, but,he didn't. "Gee,there's a Deer riding a dirt bike. I think I'll shoot it" said no one....ever. :onCrack:

To me orange is to identify hunters and that is all. If you go for walk or picking berries you don’t have to have it and if some hunters think it isn’t orange I can shoot that is just wrong! Basic firearms safety and identity target before shooting is what every responsible hunter will do.
Horrible accidents happen as I was reading one time in Europe in a newspaper. Man and his daughter were hunting ducks and as he was swinging to shoot a duck his daughter stud up and he shot her in back of the head. He didn’t care what sentence he will get. He was devastated!

I was walking along the beach in a bay and someone kept shooting at me with a shotgun!
The patterns showed on the water beside me. I yelled and they kept shooting.
So I shot back with my m1 carbine Then it stopped

This also was the last day of the season down there. Some idiot with itchy finger desperate to fill a tag was the guilty party here.
The family must be just devestated!

Last day of any big game season, anywhere, is a good time to stay in the house, providing you're not backing on a woodlot.
