The ORA presented a Father's Day Shoot at Winona (a DND Range near Hamilton). Anyone who brought a junior or their Dad had a free entry. Four guys brought their son and one brought his daughter. The juniors shot very well. One of them out shot just about everyone on the range.
The shooters were assigned 3 shooters per target. Two people shot while #3 marked targets. Then the pair of shooters went to the butts and #3 had his turn to shoot.
When the two shooters were on the firing line, the first one would shoot all three shoots (Deliberate, Snap and Mover). In this way dad could show junior how to do it, and then they would let junior shoot. They could share a rifle, if needed.
Most juniors shot an AR-15. It is perfect. Low recoil, accurate and the butt can be shortened at the push of a lever.
As usual, all manner of rifles were brought out. I saw an Arisaka on the line. That was a first. Also a Garand, a M14 (mine) Lee Enfiled #4 and #5, Mauser, K31, Mosin Nagant sniper and SKS.
Announcing the scores and handing out the prizes, Vintage wines. We have a limit of 1 prize per shooter, so that some hot shot does not take home the full case. Wine makes a good prize.
This video shows how we do the Mover:
