Faux wood finish on Norinco M14 stock?

Has anyone tried doing a faux wood finish on the Norinco synthetic stocks. Finding a good wood stock lately is like trying to find teeth in a duck! I have searched the forums and have only found threads about finishing wood stocks. My stock is od green so it is going to be refinished. By trial and error if necessary. Appreciate your thoughts Thanks

Buy an unfinished stock from Boyd's and finish it yourself, or wait till around 4th of July until the finished ones go on sale. I think a wood paint job on a synth stock would look about as natural as it would on a car JMO

You cannot buy unfinished M1A stocks from Boyds since they have not been available for quite a few months now (since it seems they got the Papal dispensation to no longer have ITAR limits for shot gun stocks!). They very occasionally (i.e July 4th sale) have the finished ones on sale which fall below the $100 ITAR limit.
