Fave Mossberg rifled ammo

Picked up a Mossberg 930 with a smoothbore and rifled deer barrel a few months ago but still haven't fired it with the rifled barrel yet.

Can anyone with a 935/930 recommend an accurate 2 3/4" loading for this particular barrel? I understand that experimenting with different brands is the proper way of approaching this, just want some informed input on what works for different people.
 
For the rifled bbl.....generally, the following sabots seem to perform well in most bbls.
- Rem Premier Accutip ..... I would try the Accutip first.
- Rem Premier Copper Solid

I'd also try the Hornady SST, good quality ammo but it can also be picky.
 
Rio star. Perfect for both barrels. Challenger makes a very similar slug. My mossberg is the 535 and the rifled barrel loves brenneke gold 3" magnums and 2 3/4" rio stars. The sabot sst's hit 8" higher at 75 yards but group well
 
Thanks for the tips gents!

I finally got to visit the range yesterday and use the rifled barrel, used the 2 3/4" Rem Copper Solids.

Only had 2 boxes with me, not enough ammo to tinker with but it grouped fairly well, only shot at 50 yds. Two interesting facts about the short session however.

First, I had a helluva time loading the slugs in the magazine... It was a though the brass was slightly oversized in it's diameter, the plastic part of the shell would enter the mag without a hitch but once the brass portion touched the elevator I would have to literally force the rest of the shell in. Maybe I was just spoiled by the ease of loading the low-brass target shells before but it seemed way too difficult loading the high-brass slugs...:mad:

Secondly, the slugs shot about a foot high at 50 yds, adjusting the rear ramp down did correct it by a bit but I'm afraid that I'll run out of adjustments before I get it centered. Any thoughts?

I am having the same issue with my 930.

I have only run a box of the Hornady stuff through it but I basically adjusted the rear sight as far back as it would hold, and it was shooting almost a foot high.

I am thinking I am just gonna mount a red dot on the gun anyways, but I was gonna try some different ammo and see what difference it made.

If you are getting the same results with those Rem shells I am afraid I won't have any other options.

Where do you get the Rio's and brenneke, and how much are they.

just a bit of advice or something to note, you should really have a cantilever barrel if you want to mount any scope on a shotgun. When you mount the scope to the receiver you will generally have issues with any type of consistant shot placement. The conection of the barrel to the receiver is the problem. Shotguns are not designed to have tight tollerances where the barrel and receiver mate up. The cantilever solves the issue by essentally mounting the scope to the barrel takeing the mating of the barrel to the receiver out of play. Trust me... or ask the two deer I missed at 40yrds !!!!
some guns may be better then others but they didn't invent the Cantilever for its looks
