What's your favorite deer load for the 243 Winchester ?
I have had real good accuracy with 100 grain Hornady's over 46 grains of H1000, dime size groups at 100 yards.

I've been waiting for some posts on this question you asked. Doesn't look like you'll get any help---to bad I could use some info as well. Have you tried any lighter bullets with this powder combination?-----cowboy

It seems that the 243 and 6 mm like 80 gr bullets(factory rifles), and thats a shame because of the selection out there. I will be trying barnes x 85 gr as soon as I can get some, me thinks this will be the ticket. :D
I tried some factory  yes factory 100's and they were good, so a look at 95 gr nosler may also make the list. :)

The .243 shoots light and heavy bullets differently according to the rifling. That and the normal, no two rifles will shoot the same load the same way.

The .243win load that I use in my Savage is 40.2gr of H4350 behind 100gr Sierra Game Kings or Hornady BTSP's. That load has been used on quite a few Charlotte Blacktails and one Whitetail. Accuracy is around 1/2" at 100m.

I bought this barreled action from a member on the board and will be building a coyote/deer gun. I was thinking 80 gr bullets but wondering maybe the 100 gr might be a better allround bullet. Powder was the other question, leaning towards H4350. I was going to try Varget because of the great success I had with a 22-250.Anywas thanks for the input , hopefully more guys will jump in and give their 2 cents worth----Cowboy

I reserve the Varget for lighter bullets in my .243. The only success I've had so far for accuracy with 100gr bullets is H414 and H4350. In my rifle I have to stay a few grains below max with the H414. It seems to generate pressure and speed pretty quick. I was getting 3100fps at the listed max:eek: Sure enough my H&R wouldn't eject the round.

243 loads

100 grain bullets with 47 grains of H1000 is supposed to generate 3000 fps according to the Hodgdon manual. :D Load this with 100 grain Nosler Partition bullets and it should be a good long range deer killer.
