Favorite 303 British loads

My #1 mk3* just loves Hornady 174 RN interlocks pushed by 37 grains of H4895. 1" groups @ 100yards consistantly. Took 2 deer with this load last November.

We've always just used IMR3031 and either 150 or 174gr leads with book loads.
i use that with 174 sp hornedys and 35G... bout 1.5" at 100.

got better results with 46G H414 with same bullet... 1" at 100 easy with all 3 of my no1 mrk3s

My target load for my .303 is as follows:
Federal brass trimmed to 2.222"
WLR primers
41 Grs. of RL-15
174 Gr. Sierra Match-King #2315
OAL: 3.020"

I spent the better part of a summer to develop this load, making sure everything was just so. I get 1.125" groups @ 100 Yards, and the velocity equals the original MK. VII load of 2436 F.P.S. The bullet BC is spot-on too.

Your mileage may vary of course!

Sierra 180gn Pro Hunter, 41gn IMR4895 in my No.1 Mk111 with Parker Hale target sights.
Most reloaders do not take into account that Enfield rifling likes flat-based bullets.
I had similar results with many Enfields, using that bullet. The Pro-Hunter is a very good bullet, at least in .303s.
Perhaps its flat base is upsetting just enough to give superior obturation, I can only guess...
