Favorite .308 bullet for Moose/Deer

Hornady BT interbonds.

Not interested in any Barnes?

I would avoid Barnes at 308 velocities like the plague. I personally have had a failure on a just below the antler head shot on a deer. It pushed a nice little about 3/4 inch hole through both sides. If that bullet was going to open up, it should have done it with that much bone. I have seen Barnes work well at faster velocities, but not out of a 308.

For 308, buy bullets that open rapidly. Look at the bonded lead bullets, interbonds, and nosler ballistic tips. Out of what you list, I would use the Gameking SPBT, or the interbonds. I have used both out of a 20 inch 308 on deer. No regrets at all.

May not have made it through......but it went far enough:D

Mister....I need a 308Norma mag to shoot my moose at 7and a half paces...;)

Russ...

It's not my faulty the moose fall in love with my calling partner:D

and don't call me Mister!;)

I've been using Hornady 308, 130 gr sp's for years in my Winchester model 88 on deer. Works great!.

100 gr Hornady's inter bond in the Savage LH bolt, 243 Winchester, also works great on deer, and haven't heard any complaints from them yet. :)

I aquired a lifetime supply of 150 grain Imperial bullets some time ago. They have killed every thing shot with them. I quess I am saying that any 150 grain bullet from a decent maker will do the job. (NOT FMJ's or match type bullets)

cheers Darryl

you're going to judge the terminal performance of a bullet on a single experience, a head shot at that? :runaway:

PS a nosler ballistic tips is not a bonded core bullet
