Hey all,

I been out of the shooting scene for 20 plus years and looking for your opinions. I have two small, young daughters (9 and 11) and a wife with a shorter LOP. I keep taking my favorite rifles and chopping the stocks to make it fit them. I am thinking of cutting my losses (intended) and getting an adjustable stock that can suit us all. I’ve done it to M70’s, Rem 700’s and I just got a T3X stainless lite for my youngest. What are your favorite adjustable stocks (chassis are too heavy, do I think) and why?

Forgive me if I couldn’t find this in searches and thanks in advance.

As you've written this in the hunting and sporting arms section, I'll assume you are looking for something for field, ease of carry option.

Typically speaking, rapidly adjustable stocks are going to cost and weigh more than simply adjustable stocks due to use of adjustment assemblies vice shim spacers. If your intent is simply to have a LOP and/or cheek riser adjustment, set it once and seldom again, the latter is probably better suited for you. However, if your two daughters and wife have significantly different physical statures, ease of adjustment might be something you want.

On the simplest side, something like Magpul's Hunter offers good value and range of adjustment without significant weight penalty. Boyds makes adjustable stocks as well but will likely add to your overall weight compared to typical hardwood or synthetic.

On the more complicated side, MDT LSS is a relatively light weight chassis system that can be paired with various buttstock options that offers ease of adjustment.

There are a variety of options depending on action-type, features desired, etc.

Here's a pic of my son who was 5 at the time , shooting the MDT LSS at its shortest length. I use a Magpul CTR buttstock
