I have been jumping around a few different calibers for the past few years and I have recently found one that I really like its a 7mm-08 and it shoots well with a 140gr nosler partition in the factory federal vital shock ammo. I am just curious as to what bullets other people are shooting for deer and why?
Thanks,
Kyle

Partitions, Accubonds, Sierra Prohunter or GK, Swift S II's, A-Frames, or interbonds on big game.

Going to be loading 180 partitions over H4350 in -06 next. Just finished loading up 200 gn NAB's in 325 WSM.

Had terrific results with fusions. For the price, the accuracy and weight retention are great.
Speaking of cost, federal blue box has surprised me quite a few times with accuracy as well.
The premium bullets no doubt perform, but for cartridges shooting under 3000 fps I prefer something I can shoot more often, at coyotes or paper, without the need for re-sighting.

Since you say deer bullet, and not elk etc bullet that will be used on deer; I'll go with the Ballistic-tip. Having said that, I've killed a pile with Hornady Interlocks. Deer aren't hard to kill.

That's what I was going to say. Both work great on deer, tougher bullets are unnecessary for deer.

SSTs for me, or Fusions if a little bigger/thicker like Moose. Tried monolithics, but they weren't expanding reliably as I tend to shoot reduced recoil loads.

Knocked down a Vancouver island blacktail with a 150 grain 308 Hornady interlock on Wednesday. Not too big a hole on the other side and I could not find any significant bullet debris.

I am going to give some Barnes Vortex a shot next year and see how they do.
