Favorite Gun metal oils?

The test above clearly shows that ordinary LUBRICATING oils and greases are just that, for lubrication, not for rust prevention.

I have also done some informal, side by side testing. Best long term products are RIG gun grease, and Fluid Film.

As a general purpose CLP my go-to is Eezox. Partially because it is nasty stuff, as it still has PCE (perchloroethylene), which is the solvent in brake cleaner. So it does a great job of cleaning too.

I'd use anything buy rem oil. they tend to try very fast and doesnt seem to stick long enough for my guns.
ATM i am trying out outers gun oil. can buy from canadian tire and they work great. Think enough to use on O/U and it sticks very well, thin enough to spray down on semi-auto.
I also spray good amount of Outers gun oil on action and barrel when hunting. those temp changes will get moisture to your rifle and the oil sticks and stays on the gun all day and night.

Ballistoil and Jig-a-Loo. Nothing else needed.

Note that Ballistoil is not for long term storage, and even the manufacturer states that. It is hydroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air. Not exactly what you want to keep something from rusting....

Where can I buy FP-10 or Eezox in Canada? I have been searching but no luck. Appreciate any help you can give.

FP-10 is just a synthetic oil. Get a litre of 5w-20 synthetic automotive oil and it works just as well.

As for Eezox, I have been getting it in the US, haven't found a supply up here. A problem is that Canada Post doesn't allow shipping of pressurized spray cans, so it makes shipping difficult.

I have always used good old 3in1, but I use it on everything, it's just my kitchen drawer multi purpose oil.
I want to try that STAG and G96 now, see what I'm missing.

I have used fluid film for the ones that sit in the safe a while, it turns gummy and more like a grease than an oil, but it cleans up easy enough and does the job.

Another vote for Stag Frigidized Gun Oil.Buy it at Home Hardware Stores.Guaranteed not to freeze gun actions to 50 below zero.

As to the different stock numbers on the Stag Gun Oil bottles of some earlier posts I believe they are for different size bottles.330 bottles are 114 ML while 301 bottles are 57 ML.The new 57 ML bottles are made of clear plastic so it is easy to see just how much oil is in the bottle.

Just ordered some $4.29 a bottle. He took some time and checked to see if he could get a larger size but all they had was the small one. 6 were showing at their central warehouse so I took them all.
I have guns in storage 30 years with this stuff on them and they are as good as the day I put them away. Mind you once a year I give them another wipe down with it. take care

Yes, its darn good stuff,Mac.Could be the larger size bottles are no longer available or perhaps Home Hardware just stocks the smaller 57 ML bottle. All I have seen in recent years are the smaller bottles.

Weaponshield. $20 from eBay plus shipping for 16oz. A little goes a long way. It really sticks to metal and seems to cleans off any corrosion/residue.

Ballistoil is not hydroscopic.
"The chemical is a yellowish clear liquid with a consistency expected of a light oil. However, when it comes in contact with water it emulsifies."
