curious to know what we all consider to be the go to ammo, for hunting .
Ive had favorable results, with federal champion bulk pac, I don't consider them the best, but very economical and clean burning and lead free barrel.
CCI ,stingers,velocitors,minimags,
Rem yellow jacket .
and others don't seem to give a real edge. in my opinion ..

Just asking because I use different ammo for grouse vs squirrels.

I tend to stick to CCI SV for grouse and use irons as I am usually out on the quad all day, and have had even good scopes lose zero or break getting banged around on the quad.

For squirrels, and rabbits it is usually Federal blue box, or Winchester Xpert out of my custom 10/22 to carry a little more punch, as I like sitting way back and sniping them rather than scaring them up a tree, and shooting into space, or trying to hit a moving rabbit.

CCI Mini-Mag HP's pretty much exclusively... The only exception is when we feel like taking out our SBR build's which are tuned to SV's... We just shoot the SV's then.

I use Velocitor as it hits hard and the bullet holds up well. Irons only for me, a scope really slows me down at short range. For plinking I haven't found anything my rifles like more than Blazer.

You should use what ever round is the most accurate out of your rifle. My 1022 is most accurate with Winchester Power Points and 2nd most accurate are CCI MiniMags.

Exactly!

That said, my 597 prefers 36 gr Mini-Mags. The Savage likes a lot! This year, gophers are getting fed Winch 333's (same as 555's).

Targets get shot with RWS Club.

use lapua sk plus( red box) for serious shooting and super x 333 bulk or 555 bulk for crows and plinking. i used to like blazer for plinking but found that the wax or lub they use gums up my chamber and will stop the brass for ejecting so i stopped using it i also rim thickness and weight sort my match ammo.

I only use Subsonic .22 for hunting. I prefer the .22 short CBs the most. I find they have more knockdown on small critters like squirrels and rabbits at the ranges I hunt them. A subsonic usually will not exit a squirrel and knocks them right off their branch. LR and hyper velocity sometimes rip right through and they take off running. Also with the CBs being 710 FPS, they are so quiet often a miss will make a squirrel stop moving and look around for the source of the pop, giving a clean follow up.

Velocitor, hits hard enough out to 100 yards, and only drops a few inches at 100 if you sight in an inch high at 50. My 10/22 also like Blazer for plinking.

I have a requirement that my 22s shoot around 1/2" at 50 meters with some kind of non-match bulk ammo. The occasional flyer is acceptable. I blame the ammo when it's probably my fault. I have seven 22s, all bolt guns. For plinking, I agree that Blazer is probably the most consistent, but the OP asked for hunting ammo. I used to use hollow points in the brand the gun preferred, but lately I have been using CCI quiets. Out of my Remington 513t Matchmaster (28" barrel) they are so quiet it barely makes a pop. At 25 meters, the remmy shoots them well enough to hit anything I put the crosshairs on. At that low velocity, I can attest to the fact the bullets will go clean through a rabbit's head. They also ricochet like hell, so be aware of your backstop. I have found that the CCI quiets are a lot more accurate and just a little louder than the cb longs from cci.
Anything over 25 meters, I use high velocity hollow points. Win 555 or Federal 525s are cheap, available, and shoot pretty well in most of my guns.
