favorite lever gun

Ive always figured the 99 was a good rifle,but have also had a secret longing for an 1895!
Almost bought one a few times, but just can't get past the clikkety-clack can opener thing of levers!

NOW, if the lever is attached to a falling block, well, THAT is anopther matter!:D

I have several levers, Marlin, Savage and Winchesters. Most calibres included. .45-70, .375 Win .38-55 .44 mag .303 sav .300 sav .32 spec. .30-30 The one I go back to all the time is my 336 in .35 Rem it works and works well. Shoot a deer with a .35 rem after using a .30-30 and you will be shocked, it hits hard.

2) 1913 mfg Winchester M94 Rifle in .38-55
3) Shilo Sharps #3 Sporting Rifle in .45-70 (well it does have a lever!)

That's a tuff question!

My favourite is a Winchester model 71 Deluxe, .348.

I have several 1886 rifles in .45-70 and .33 WCF including a beautiful extra-lightweight TD. I really enjoy shooting the .33 rifles. I used a .45-70 Browning 1886 carbine .45-70 to finish off a friend's moose this year and it is a great rifle. Model 94 carbines are nice rifles and because my Dad always liked the .32 Special, so do I. I have both a .250 and .300 Savage 99 and they shoot well and I'm thankful for the scope sights on them. The .250 is a 99A that I bought from Ted (Why not?) back about 1995 and it has accounted for more game since than any other rifle in my rack. I have always thought a Marlin 336 ER in .356 Winchester would be a great rifle but who can ever find one!

I've got to say my favourite lever gun is my Model 94 in 356. But the funnest gun I own, is my Model 94 in 30-30 with a 2.5X pistol scope on it.

How true!

-For gophers my BLR in 223
-For coyotes my 99 in 22-250
-For fun my 1892 in 25-20
-For tradition my 1894 in 30-30
-For deer my BLR in 308
-For back-up my 99 in 308
-For keep sakes my 99 in 250

And the rest are just because I thought I needed them!:)
 
I love the classic lines of the mod. 94 and I shot my first deer with one. But I have to say that for the overall hunting practice, I am considering a BLR in 7 mm Rem mag. I like the pistol grip version and I have to say that the detacheble mag is a + versus all the other makes. My 2 cents. Good day y'all !
 
What a dilemma, if I had to choose just one it would be my 9422, no wait my, BLR 81 in 257 Roberts. But then both my 30-30's would be left out, and then there is my model 88, 308. It's a good thing this is only a question and not a decission we have to make.
 
Back in 1993, for lack of 750 bucks, I had to pass up a really nice Win 86 in .40-82, and I had always wanted one, before and since. Right now I only own one lever gun, a .250-3000 Savage 1899F takedown. 85 years old, a takedown no less, and I shot MOA groups with it last weekend. Sweeeeet!
To nitpick on the original post, the original classic pistol-calibre rifles were never made in .45 Colt or .38 special. No one seems to know why. They were made in .44-40, .38-40, and.32-20, most commonly.
 
Gotta love the 1894 in 30-30 - classic and still very functional (functional for many years is what usually makes anything a classic, no?).
But Browning perfected the lever with the BLR and it's detachable mag. I've got a few and I love 'em: BL-22 (for my daughter, eventually), '81 in .243 and a pre-'81 in .358 (looking to sell, perhaps...:eek: )
Now, they should have a 15 round mag for my .243 and... naw, that'd look silly... :rolleyes: :D
 
I have owned, hunted with and killed with numerous levers from .22 mag through to 38-55 in Win 94's Savage 99's, BLR's and a B92. But after putting 100 rounds or so through this guide gun, nothing has ever felt more natural when i shoulder it and point it. Now i have the XS ghost ring system on it and it points and shoots with the ease of a shotgun. Me's in love:D
